Trade Rumors: Nathan Horton on the Block

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun and The Fourth Period both mentioned new GM Dale Tallon looking to make moves and actively shopping forwards Nathan Horton and Rostislav Olesz.  Although teams showed more interest in Keith Ballard and leading scorer Stephen Weiss, somebody may take a chance on Horton.

This former third overall pick carries size, goal scoring ability and a lengthy list of injuries to his credit.  Only twice in his career has the right wing played a full 82 game schedule and has failed to pot 60 points in his last two campaigns.  Perhaps a change of scenery as well as less pressure will make Horton see his true potential.

The Panthers also selected Olesz with a high pick back in the 2004 draft but he failed to improve on his sophomore season.  Now a five-year veteran, He also struggles to remain healthy– failing to play a full season in any of his campaigns.  The Czech native remains skilled but fails to consistently find the net in his current surroundings.  He also could improve his totals with a change of scenery but holds little to no fantasy value.

As the Sun notes regarding Ballard or Weiss:

So draft them knowing they likely will still lace them up for the cellar dwelling Panthers.  Even with the changes to the regime, this team as currently constructed will probably not make it into the playoffs.
