UPDATE 1/4/12: Myers is aiming to play this Friday when his Sabres take on the Carolina Hurricanes according to the team’s Twitter account.

Getting Myers back into the lineup would certainly aid an ailing defense that is already missing Christian Ehrhoff and Andrej Sekera. The hulking d-man has been sidelined since November 19th. Expect a further update on his status prior to Friday’s 7PM EST puck drop.

11/21/11: Tyler Myers had been wildly inconsistent prior to the now infamous Ryan Miller incident. Due to his lack of drive at both ends of the ice, the hulking behemoth was benched for a game. When he returned he looked like the former Calder Memorial Trophy winner, scoring two goals then following that effort up with a couple solid games. Just when you thought the worst was over, it got worse.

Myers left Saturday night’s game with an apparent wrist injury, playing only 12:41 of ice time. The team remained mum on his status throughout yesterday but announced this afternoon that he went under the knife this morning and will miss weeks.

For now, there is nothing to do but wait for him to get healthy. T.J. Brennan will slot into his place at even strength while Andrej Sekera figures to take his PP ice time. For the full lines, click here.
