Victor Hedman injured vs. Golden Knights

The Tampa Bay Lightning picked up two important points against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday evening, but it wasn’t all good.

Elite Tampa blueliner Victor Hedman suffered an apparent injury on a collision with forward Ryan Reaves and was forced to leave the game. The incident occurred early during the second period and Hedman did not return.

Looking at the video, it appears Hedman was simply in an awkward position when the power forward Reaves stepped into him. Hedman appeared to hit his head on the glass.

The 27-year-old is an absolute workhorse on the Lightning blueline and any injury would be very concerning for the team. Through eight games this season, Hedman has picked up four points while logging around 22 minutes of ice time.

Following the conclusion of the 3-2 victory by the Bolts, coach Jon Cooper said he doesn’t think Hedman’s status will be anything long term. As far as a possible concussion, Cooper said “That hasn’t come up at all.”

Update: Hedman will miss at least a week with an upper-body injury
