It appears as though @Alex Kerfoot has become the second known member of the Seattle Kraken.

The Kraken only have one player on their roster right now, undrafted free agent Luke Henman, who was signed to an entry-level deal back in 2021. We’ll know the rest of the team’s roster on Wednesday night, but it seems we can add one more player to the list.

Based on a leaked video from Twitter user @leafsfan, the Kraken will be selecting Kerfoot from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the upcoming Expansion Draft…

The video shows NHL Network analyst and personality Kevin Weekes reading Kerfoot’s name next to the Seattle Pike Place Fish Market’s famous fish toss.

The Kraken replied to leafsfan’s tweet by saying… “not shown: 5+ other takes the NHL filmed in preparation for tomorrow’s big event,” so there’s a possibility that this was just one of the multiple shots taken and the filming crew doesn’t actually know who that pick is going to be.

The Leafs surprisingly opted to use the eight-skater protection scheme in order to fit defenceman @Justin Holl onto their list, ultimately leaving Kerfoot and the newly-acquired @Jared McCann open to Seattle. The assumption was that Toronto had a deal in place in order for Seattle to take Kerfoot, which would open up some salary cap room for general manager Kyle Dubas to work with.
