Vincent Trocheck suffers brutal leg injury in Ottawa

It was a crazy Monday night in Ottawa.

After the first period of the Panthers/Senators game at Canadian Tire Centre was cut short due to a medical emergency in the crowd, something awful happened on the ice as well.

Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck suffered a gruesome lower-body during the second period after going into the boards awkwardly with an Ottawa player. He was screaming out in pain and needed to be carried off on a stretcher.

Here’s a look at the sequence. Full discretion, this is hard to watch:

There is nothing good that can come out of this. A brutal injury that will likely keep Trocheck on the shelf for an extended period of time.

The injury comes after the Senators put out a statement regarding an emergency in the stands:

“A fan suffered a medical emergency in the stands tonight nearing the end of the first period. The fan was treated immediately by paramedics and team medical staff on site and has been transported by ambulance to a local hospital.”

Three minutes of the first period were tacked onto the second period as both teams went to their dressing rooms early. Crazy to think the medical emergency was just the beginning of the awfulness Monday evening in Ottawa.

Trocheck is a huge piece of Florida’s offense. The 25-year-old has racked up three goals and 13 points in 17 games thus far and is dynamite on the power play.

Wishing the best for the American forward.
