Trevor Zegras is a freak.

Just 48 games into his NHL career, he’s showing off elite offensive talent that few in the league can match. Night in and night out he’s showing those talents and not shying away from being creative, either.

And Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres, he put it on full display.

In the second period, Zegras held the puck behind the Sabres net and picked the puck up with his stick looking like he was going to try and score a Michigan-style goal.

Instead, Zegras flipped it over the net where linemate Sonny Milano was able to bat it into the net. As incredible as the play was, Zegras’ reaction on the bench was even better. Can you blame him?

It’s a move that former superstar Pavel Datsyuk tried a number of times, but was never able to convert on. Nonetheless, this has to go down as one of the nicest assist ever scored in the NHL.
