What Happened and Where We’re Going

Updated: January 11, 2010 at 6:19 pm by Brock Seguin

Just a quick update on what’s been going on the last couple of days:

It’s no secret that our site was down for most of Saturday and some of Sunday and Monday.  On Saturday, we received an abnormal spike in activity mid-afternoon and it continued for much of the night.  This spike obviously overloaded our servers resulting in the errors you saw.  We apologize for not having the updates brought to you when you needed them and it’s our only goal to ensure we continue or exceed the level of service we provided prior to going down.  That said, while we can only speculate malicious activity, it’s not our place to point fingers – only to pull up our socks and move forward.

We’ve also used the downtime to implement critical updates that are going to help DailyFaceoff.com scale wider and farther in terms of the depth and quality of individual team coverage, fantasy analysis, betting breakdowns, and much more.  This means much more content for you to take advantage of!

We’d also like you to join us in welcoming Alexander Monaghan to the DailyFaceoff.com team!  He’s joining us from NHL Hot Stove – an awesome site covering NHL news and rumours – and brings us deeper, more timely and more intuitive insights on the daily updates you covet regarding Starting Goaltenders and Team Lineups.  Alexander is a well-experienced writer and we’re glad to have him on board!
