Wisniewski Dead to Most Fantasy Leaguers

Wisniewski Dead to Most Fantasy Leaguers

The strong arm of Colin Campbell came down on Anaheim Ducks defenseman today, suspending him for eight of the remaining 13 games.  A true example of retaliation due to a similar hit by the “victim” Brent Seabrook on right wing Corey Perry certainly did not seem to be suspension worthy but here at Daily Faceoff we prefer to give you options rather than opinions.

For those of you who want to go on the soap box, tell me what you think of this hit in the comments.

If you rostered Wisniewski he most likely will leave you high and dry.  Our writer Fantasy Snipes recently wrote a similar piece on replacing Brian Campbell.  If all of those guys are taken, here are a few considerations for your playoff push.

Mark Stuart:  The Bruins look like they may sneak into the playoffs with the help of this snarling defenseman.  At 6’2″ and 213 lbs, Stuart uses his frame to inflict punishment on opposing forwards.  Most recently he started to pile on the PIM, with 25 minutes in the box over his last five games.  The 25-year-old even added an assist and plus-three rating over that span making him a valuable blue liner for your number four slot.

Trevor Daley:  With the Stars starting to really light the lamp, Daley finds himself in the middle of everything.  The 26-year-old defenseman registered a goal and four assists over his last five games.  By stepping up, the Stars find themselves with numerous options and so can your fantasy team by acquiring him.  The boys from Big D continue to stay in the race, which will help your team in the short run.

Ron Hainsey:  Playing on the top powerplay unit in Atlanta certainly helped his value over the past week.  With two points in his last three games, he started to show the potential that made the Canadiens select him 13th overall a decade ago.  At this point trying a player with pedigree and the ability to register points at a decent clip cannot hurt.  Over the past three seasons he averaged 35 points per season, so the expected production is there.
