Oliver Wahlstrom will draw back into the Islanders' lineup Monday vs. Edmonton.

Wahlstrom, along with Julien Gauthier, will draw back into the Islanders lineup on Monday as Matt Martin and Hudson Fasching will both be healthy scratches. Wahlstrom, who will likely skate on the third line alongside Anders Lee and Jean-Gabriel Pageau, has only one point (1G / 0A) in seven games this season.

Julien Gauthier will draw back into the Islanders' lineup Monday in Edmonton.

Gauthier, along with Oliver Wahlstrom, will draw back into the Islanders lineup on Monday as Matt Martin and Hudson Fasching will both be healthy scratches. Gauthier's only game this season was on October 21st, when he played 12:58, registered one shot, four hits, and a -1 plus/minus.

Julien Gauthier
Matt Martin will be a healthy scratch Monday in Edmonton.

Martin, along with Hudson Fasching, will be healthy scratches on Monday, allowing Julien Gauthier and Oliver Wahlstrom to draw back into the lineup. Martin has played all 13 games for the Islanders this season, tallying two points (1G / 1A), 29 hits, and seven penalty minutes.

Matt Martin
Ilya Sorokin was in the starter's crease at Monday's morning skate.

Sorokin will likely return to the crease on Monday for the Islanders when they visit the Edmonton Oilers. Sorokin is sporting an adequate 3-2-3 record this season, but his play has been a far cry from the Vezina-caliber totals the hockey world has become accustomed to over the last few seasons, posting a 3.24 GAA and .907 SV%. Over the last eight games, the Islanders have opted to rotate starts between Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov. Albeit +150 road underdogs, the Islanders will try to get back on track against an Oilers team that has lost eight of their last 10 (2-7-1).

Ilya Sorokin
Jesper Wallstedt will travel as Minnesota's third goalie for their Sweden trip.

With the Minnesota Wild travelling to Sweden as part of the NHL Global Series, the team has recalled Jesper Wallstedt to serve as their third goaltender. Wallstedt, a native of Sweden, was the 20th overall pick of the Wild in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. In eight games with Iowa (AHL) this season (6-2-0), Wallstedt has a 2.01 GAA and .932 SV%.

Jesper Wallstedt
Jeff Carter (upper body) was absent at practice and is a game-time decision Tuesday vs. Columbus.

Carter, a healthy scratch in back-to-back games earlier this month, did not participate at practice on Monday and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday. The 39-year-old Carter is averaging 10:16 time-on-ice, a career-low, down more than three minutes from what he was playing last season (13:42). He has zero points and a -2 plus/minus rating in 10 games.

Jeff Carter
Andrew Cogliano is day-to-day with an unknown injury and practicing in a non-contact jersey.

Cogliano did not dress for Colorado's 8-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday and wore a non-contact jersey at practice on Monday. Cogliano has three points (0G / 3A) in 12 games this season, averaging 10:02 time-on-ice. It appears Joel Kiviranta is ready to make his Avalanche debut, likely slotting into Cogliano's place on the fourth line.

Andrew Cogliano
Conor Timmins (lower body) practiced in full for the first time since September.

Timmins was a full participant in practice for the first time this season and appears to be nearing his season debut. Last season, Timmins skated in 25 games with the Maple Leafs, recording 14 points (2G / 12A) while averaging 15:37 time-on-ice.

Conor Timmins
Stuart Skinner was in the starter's crease at Monday's morning skate.

The Oilers will likely turn to Skinner again after he helped them snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday, saving 17 of 18 shots in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken. Monday night's contest against the New York Islanders will mark the Oilers' first game with new head coach Kris Knoblauch after Jay Woodcroft was fired on Sunday. The pressure of a new coach and the Islanders' general inability to score (2.46 GF / GP) attribute to the Oilers being listed as -171 home favourites.

Stuart Skinner
Devon Levi is expected to start Tuesday vs. Boston.

Since Levi returned earlier this month from an injury, the Sabres have opted to rotate starts between him and Ukko Pekka-Luukkonen and will likely continue this trend with Levi taking the crease on Tuesday. Levi is sporting a very pedestrian 3.17 GAA and .896 SV% through six games (3-3-0) but has won both starts since returning to the lineup, saving 57 of 63 shots (.905 SV%). The Bruins lead the Eastern Conference with an 11-1-2 record but rank in the bottom half of the league offensively, averaging 3.21 goals per game.

Devon Levi
Andrei Vasilevskiy (back) resumed practicing with his teammates Monday.

Vasilevskiy seems to be on pace for his scheduled return as he is 6.5 weeks into his original 8-10 week prognosis after undergoing back surgery late in September. With their Vezina-winning backstop sidelined, the Lightning have salvaged a 6-5-4 record, primarily playing in front of journeyman goaltender Jonas Johansson.

Andrei Vasilevskiy
Nikita Kucherov (illness) returned to practice Monday and is game-time decision Tuesday.

Kucherov was a full participant at practice after missing the team's last game with an illness. As has become expected over the last several seasons, Kucherov is among the league leaders in points, ranking third with 23 (11G / 12A) in 14 games this season and could be an option to return to action on Tuesday.

Nikita Kucherov
Jacob Markstrom (upper body) was a full participant in Monday's practice.

Markstrom did not dress in the last two games for the Flames as he was out of the lineup with an upper-body injury but appears to be nearing a return. During his absence, Dan Vladar and Dustin Wolf each started a game, both losses. Markstrom is 2-6-1 on the season with a 2.91 GAA and .896 SV%.

Jacob Markstrom
Louis Domingue has been reassigned to Hartford (AHL).

Domingue served primarily as the backup to Jonathan Quick while with the Rangers but played exceptionally in his only game-action, saving 25 of 26 shots for a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Rangers do not play again until Saturday, so while this might be a paper transaction, allowing Domingue to get some playing time with Hartford (AHL), it could also be a sign that Igor Shesterkin is nearing his return.
