Simmonds cleared waivers and was assigned to the Marlies to open the season. However, with Matt Murray landing on LTIR, the Maple Leafs had enough cap space to bring him back. He skated as an extra on Sunday, so don't expect him to be in the lineup vs. the Coyotes on Monday.
Robertson had a terrific preseason but was sent down because he was waiver exempt and the Maple Leafs were in a cap crunch. With Matt Murray landing on LTIR, the Maple Leafs gained some cap flexibility and wasted no time bringing Robertson back. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a decent career so far across five NHL seasons, winning 29 games while posting a career .908 SV% across 63 starts with San Jose and Arizona. He will look to start his Vegas career off on the right foot as they take on Seattle Saturday.
Cal Petersen will get his first start of the season for the 0-2-0 Los Angeles Kings Saturday as they take on Minnesota on the road in a battle for first wins for both teams. Petersen enters his fifth season with Los Angeles, posting a 39-39-8 record alongside his 2.83 GAA and 9.08 SV%.
Juuse Saros will take the crease Saturday as Nashville takes on Dallas in a tough road matchup. Saros will be looking for quick redemption after the Stars put up four goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 beat down Thursday of the Predators. Regardless of his game two loss, he is still enjoying a strong .917 SV% to go along with his 1-1-0 record to start the season.

The 27-year-old Russian netminder stood on his head in game one, and stopped 26 of 28 shots (.929 SV%) while getting little help offensively in a 3-1 loss. He will be hoping for some more scoring help as he and the Islanders look to enter the win column for the first time this season.

The Ducks workhorse stood true to his title stopping 44 of 48 shots in Anaheim's 5-4 opening night overtime win against Seattle Wednesday. He will hope to face less action in his second start after finishing 2021-22 with the seventh most Shots Against (1789) throughout the NHL.

Forsberg played incredible in his first action of 2022-23 stopping 32 of 34 shots on way to collecting the unfortunate loss. He will have the tough task of taking on the high flying Maple Leaf's Saturday in Toronto.
