Detroit Red Wings News

The Red Wings signed Chase Stillman to a one-year, two-way contract.

Stillman spent the 2025-26 season with the Canucks' organization, where he spent the entire season in the AHL. The 23-year-old winger had three goals and six assists (nine points) in 24 games with Abbotsford. He'll almost certainly start the 2026-27 season in Grand Rapids (AHL).

Detroit has acquired Keegan Kolesar from Vegas for a 2027 7th round pick and a 2029 3rd round pick.

The Red Wings added some grit and physicality to their bottom six on the opening day of free agency, acquiring Kolesar in a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights. The 29-year-old forward recorded 17 points (6G / 11A) and 270 hits in 82 games last season.

Detroit has signed Wilmer Skoog to a one-year, two-way contract.

Skoog made his NHL debut last season, recording two assists in three games with the Florida Panthers, but has otherwise exclusively played at the AHL level. The undrafted 26-year-old product of Boston University spent most of the 2025-26 season with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL), scoring 37 points (18G / 19A) in 61 games.

Detroit has signed Jacob Bryson to a one-year, $850,000 AAV contract.

The Red Wings added some depth to their blueline on the opening day of free agency, signing Bryson to a one-year contract. The 28-year-old defenseman played 50 games last season, split between the Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets, scoring eight points (2G / 6A).

Detroit has signed Daniil Tarasov to a one-year, $2 million contract.

The Red Wings have signed Tarasov to a one-year contract, likely indicating that they are moving on from Cam Talbot and going with a John Gibson-Daniil Tarasov goaltending tandem. The 27-year-old Tarasov had a 3.05 GAA and .895 SV% in 33 games (13-15-3) with the Florida Panthers last season.

Detroit has signed Viktor Arvidsson to a two-year, $5 million AAV contract ($10M total).

GM Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings have faced some adversity this offseason, but made a quality offensive acquisition on the opening day of free agency, signing Arvidsson to a two-year contract worth $10 million ($5.0M AAV). The 33-year-old Swedish forward has battled some injury concerns and consistency in his career, but is coming off an excellent 2025-26 season with the Boston Bruins, scoring 54 points (25G / 29A) in 69 games.

Detroit has signed Carter Mazur to a two-year, $875,000 AAV contract extension ($1.75M total).

Although Detroit could have matched Mazur's qualifying offer, the team and player decided to skip that and sign a cheaper, two-year, $875,000 AAV contract extension ($1.75M total). Mazur is Detroit's 2021 3rd round pick (70th overall) but has failed to find success at the NHL level after going pointless in his first nine NHL games over three seasons. He is expected to battle for a bottom-six role in Detroit in training camp after putting up 11 goals and 16 points in 16 games with Grand Rapids (AHL) last season.

The Red Wings signed William Wallinder to a two-year, two-way contract.

Detroit has locked up some defensive depth on Thursday after the team announced they had signed 23-year-old William Wallinder to a two-year, two-way contract extension. The 23-year-old was Detroit's 2020 2nd round pick (32nd overall) but has yet to make his NHL debut after spending the last three seasons in Grand Rapids (AHL). He is expected to start 2026-27 with Grand Rapids but could make an NHL appearance with strong play early on.

The Red Wings have signed Theo Rochette to a one-year, entry-level contract.

Rochette went undrafted and played five seasons in the QMJHL before heading to Switzerland for the last three seasons. In 2026, he led Lausanne HC in goals (22) and finished second in points (43) in 46 games. He will likely report to Grand Rapids (AHL) to begin the 2026-27 season.

Arvidsson (upper body) returned to the ice on Friday but will not play in Game 6.

Arvidsson will miss his second straight game on Friday, but head coach Nico Sturm said it was an encouraging sign to see him back on the ice, and could play in Game 7 if the Bruins are able to stay alive in Game 6. The Bruins will roll with the exact same lineup as Game 5.
