Josh Brown will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. the New York Rangers.

Brown collected 13:14 TOI in the Coyotes' season opening win vs. New Jersey but will be the odd man out as he is a healthy scratch Monday for Troy Stecher. The 29-year-old defenseman is coming off a four goal, three assist, 87 PIM season across 68 games played in 2022-23 and is playing in his sixth NHL season and has eight goals and 24 points in 240 career games played.

Josh Brown
Michael Carcone will be a healthy scratch vs. the New York Rangers Monday.

Carcone only played 14 shifts and 9:10 TOI in the Coyotes' season opening win and will be a healthy scratch Monday as Arizona takes on the New York Rangers. The 27-year-old undrafted forward had two goals, an assist, 15 SOG and a +3 plus/minus in a short nine game showing in 2022-23 and will hope to find his way back into the lineup soon. He is being replaced by Travis Boyd on the Coyotes' fourth line.

Michael Carcone
Sergei Bobrovsky will start Monday vs. New Jersey.

Bobrovsky will tend the crease in game three of the season for the Florida Panthers as they look to get things on track after an uninspired start. The Panthers have been outscored 8-4 in their first two games (0-2-0) and seem to be lacking the magic they displayed during their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Finals. The teams' poor performance has been mirrored by Bobrovsky, who has a forgettable 3.64 GAA and .873 SV% to start the season. Things won't get easier for Bobrovsky and the Panthers on Monday night as they face off against the high-octane offence of the New Jersey Devils, who are 1-0-1 to start the season. The Panthers are listed as +152 road underdogs as they search for the first victory.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Troy Stecher is set to make his season debut Monday vs. the New York Rangers.

After being a healthy scratch in their season opener, Stecher will make his season debut in his return to the Arizona Coyotes. Last season, Stecher split time between the Coyotes and Flames, scoring 14 points (3G / 11A) in 81 games. Stecher will replace Josh Brown, who will be a healthy scratch on Monday night.

Troy Stecher
Travis Boyd will make his season debut Monday vs. the New York Rangers.

Boyd will play his first game of the season after being a healthy scratch for the Coyotes in their season opener on Friday. Last season, Boyd scored 34 points (15G / 19A) in 82 games while playing an average of 16:32 per game. He is expected to slot in on the fourth line alongside Liam O'Brien and Jack McBain.

Travis Boyd
Austin Czarnik is expected to make his season debut Monday vs. Columbus.

After opting to dress only 11 forwards in their previous matchup, the Red Wings will go with the traditional 12-6 formation, allowing Czarnik to make his season debut. In 29 games with the Red Wings last season, Czarnik scored five points (3G / 2A).

Austin Czarnik
Jeff Petry will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. Columbus.

Petry will be a healthy scratch on defence for the Red Wings Monday night after dressing seven defencemen in their previous matchup. In two games this season, Petry has zero points, -2 plus/minus, four penalty minutes, and six hits. The move allows Austin Czarnik to make his season debut.

Jeff Petry
James Reimer will make his Red Wings' starting debut Monday vs. Columbus.

After having Ville Husso tend the crease for the first two games, the Red Wings will turn to newcomer James Reimer for the third game of the season. Reimer spent last season on a very poor San Jose Sharks team, where he recorded a 3.48 GAA and .890 SV% in 43 games (12-21-8). Reimer is now in the 14th year of his NHL career and will hope to match his career average of 2.87 GAA and .911 SV% this season with the Red Wings. The Red Wings enter today's matchup as a -130 road favourite against a Blue Jackets team that will be without their starting goalie, Elvis Merzlinkins.

James Reimer
Alexander Alexeyev is expected to make his season debut Monday vs. Calgary.

Alexeyev did not appear in Washington's only game of the season but is expected to make his 2023-24 debut Monday as the Capitals' take on the Flames at home. The 23-year-old defenseman had five assists, 28 SOG, four PIMs, and a -2 plus/minus through 32 games as a rookie in 2022-23. He should be replacing Lucas Johansen in the Capitals' lineup Monday.

Alexander Alexeyev
Aliaksei Protas is expected to make his season debut Monday vs. Calgary.

Protas did not appear in Washington's season opening loss to Pittsburgh but is set to make his season debut Monday vs. Calgary. The 22-year-old forward had four goals, 11 assists, 83 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -8 plus/minus in 58 games in his sophomore season in 2022-23. He is expected to replace Anthony Mantha in the Capitals' lineup Monday.

Aliaksei Protas
Anthony Mantha is expected to a be a healthy scratch Monday vs. Calgary.

Mantha's frustrating tenure with the Capitals continues as he is expected to be a healthy scratch on Monday night. He had zero points and failed to record a shot on goal in 11:52 time-on-ice in the Capitals' season-opener. He has 58 points (24G / 34A) in 119 games as a Capital and is expected to be replaced by Aliaksei Protas on the fourth line.

Anthony Mantha
Mackie Samoskevich will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. New Jersey.

Samoskevich was held without a point in his first two career NHL games to start the 2022-23 season and will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. New Jersey. The 20-year-old forward was Florida's 2021 first-round pick (21st overall) and surprised some by cracking the teams roster early in camp. He will be replaced by Justin Sourdif on the Panthers' third line.

Mackie Samoskevich
Justin Sourdif is expected to make his NHL debut Monday vs. New Jersey.

Sourdif was Florida's 2020 third round pick (87th overall) and will make his NHL debut Monday vs. New Jersey. The 21-year-old forward had seven goals, 17 assists, 32 PIMs and a -4 plus/minus in 48 games in his first season with Charlotte (AHL) in 2022-23. He will replace Mackie Sameskevich on Florida's third line in his debut.

Justin Sourdif
Igor Shesterkin will start Monday vs. Arizona.

Shesterkin will make his third consecutive start to open the season for the Rangers on Monday night. The All-Star goaltender is coming off a forgettable performance on Saturday that saw him allow five goals on 21 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Last season, Shesterkin allowed five goals only once and followed it up with a victory performance where he allowed only two goals. Shesterkin and the Rangers will be looking to rebound as they are massive -232 home favourites against an Arizona Coyotes team that has only played one game this season, a 4-3 shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils.

Igor Shesterkin
Ryan Lindgren (upper body) will be a game-time decision Monday vs. Arizona.

Lindgren missed the Rangers' previous contest vs. Columbus due to an upper-body injury but will be a game-time decision Monday as they take on Arizona. The 25-year-old defensemen played 19:50 TOI in the Rangers season opener but failed to pick up any counting stats besides one SOG. He had a goal, 17 assists, 45 PIMs and a +29 plus/minus in 63 games as a key part of the Rangers in 2022-23.

Ryan Lindgren
Sergei Bobrovsky is in the starters' crease for Monday's morning skate.

Bobrovsky is likely to tend the crease in game three of the season for the Florida Panthers as they look to get things on track after an uninspired start.

Charlie Lindgren is a game-time decision vs Calgary after leaving practice early Monday.

Lindgren left practice early with a presumable ailment, leaving his status unclear on Monday night. Lindgren started the first game of the season, as Darcy Kuemper was away from the team for the birth of his son, and allowed four goals on 35 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. If Lindgren is unable to suit up as the backup goalie on Monday night, the Capitals might be forced into an emergency call-up from the AHL.

Charlie Lindgren
Kirby Dach (lower body) suffered a significant injury and is expected to be out indefinitely.

The Canadiens received terrible news Monday morning as Dach is expected to be out indefinitely after suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday's matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 22-year-old center had two assists, three shots, and three hits in his first two games of the season. Alex Newhook is expected to replace Dach as the second-line center.

Kirby Dach
Darcy Kuemper will start Monday vs. Calgary.

Kuemper will make his season debut with the Capitals on Monday after being away from the team for their season opener to be with his wife for the birth of his son. The Capitals will hope that the return of Kuemper can give them a boost as they were shut out, 4-0, against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first game of the season. Kuemper tied a career-high in his first season with the Capitals in 2022-23 by playing 57 games (22-26-7), recording a 2.85 GAA and .909 SV%. Tonight, the Capitals are +113 home underdogs against the Calgary Flames, who are off to a 1-1-0 start to the season in which they have been outscored 8-7.
