Ty Emberson will enter the lineup on Friday as Burroughs will serve as a healthy scratch to miss his first game of the season. Burroughs is averaging 19:26 time-on-ice, has 29 blocks, 27 hits, and a -12 plus/minus through 15 games.
Emberson has played seven games this season but has been out of the lineup since November 7th. He has one point (0G / 1A), nine blocks, and nine hits while averaging 15:57 time-on-ice. He is expected to replace Kyle Burroughs, who will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.
Blackwood will start for the 11th time in 16 games for the Sharks against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The Sharks' struggles as the league-worst offence (1.20 GF / GP) and league-worst defence (4.40 GA / GP) have been well documented this season, but nearly as astonishing has been the play of Blackwood between the pipes. Despite the Sharks' inability to compete in most games, Blackwood has recorded a quality start in 60% of his games. His .900 SV% speaks volumes to his level of play this season but hopes for a win remain low as the Sharks are +241 home underdogs on Tuesday.
Gibson will start for the second consecutive game on Tuesday when the Ducks take on the Nashville Predators. Gibson has been stellar in November, saving 89 of 93 shots (.957 SV%) in three games (2-1-0) and, on the season, is currently matching his career-best save percentage set in the 2017-18 season (.926). The Ducks are rolling lately, winning seven of their last nine games (7-2-0), but are +154 road underdogs against a Predators team that has lost three straight (0-3-0), being outscored 17-10.
Saros will likely get the chance to redeem himself on Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks after some uncharacteristically poor play in November. Saros has yet to win this month (0-4-0) and has allowed three or more goals in each game, posting an awful .860 SV%. Saros has never posted a sub- .914 SV% but is well below his career averages this season with a 3.24 GAA and .894 SV%. Despite his struggles, Saros and the Predators remain -173 home favourites against an Anaheim Ducks team that ranks in the bottom half of the league offensively (3.14 GF / GP).
With Andrei Vasilevskiy nearing his return, Johansson's reign as the starting goalie for the Lightning seems to be coming to an end, and not a second too early, as the Swedish goaltender has struggled lately. In his last five games (1-2-2), Johansson has allowed at least four goals in each and posted an ugly .861 SV%. The Lightning are -123 favourites on Tuesday but are facing a St. Louis Blues team that has outscored their opposition 10-3 during a two-game winning streak.
Myers was recalled from Syracuse over the weekend and will make his season debut Tuesday vs. St. Louis as he replaces Erik Cernak (undisclosed) in the Lightning lineup. The 26-year-old is in his sixth NHL season and had a goal, two assists, 21 SOG and four PIMs in 11 games with Tampa in 2022-23.
Cernak left the Lightning's last game vs. Carolina after 13 shifts and 9:57 TOI due to an undisclosed injury and will not play Tuesday vs. St. Louis. The 26-year-old stay-at-home defender has three assists, 11 SOG, six PIMs and a -3 plus/minus in 15 games played prior to his injury. He will be replaced by Philippe Myers on Tampa's third defensive pairing.
Schmid played well coming in relief of Vitek Vanecek on Friday, saving 20 of 21 shots (.952 SV%) in a 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals and will likely receive only his second start since October 26th. The Devils expected to operate with an even timeshare in their crease, but early struggles for Schmid quickly put that idea to rest. In five games (1-2-1), Schmid has a 3.09 GAA and .898 SV%. Despite his struggles, Vanecek has been far from perfect this season, and a strong performance from Schmid against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday could go a long way in securing him more game-action.
Dellandrea has been a healthy scratch for the Stars' previous three games but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday vs. Arizona as he replaces Sam Steel. The 23-year-old centre has struggled out of the gate this season, with his one assist, nine SOG, two PIMs and -1 plus/minus in nine games played. He returns to his role on line four.
Steel has yet to score this season but has an assist, 14 SOG and a -1 plus/minus through 10 games played but will be the odd man out of the Stars' lineup Tuesday vs. Arizona. He will be replaced by Ty Dellandrea on Dallas' fourth line.
After losing back-to-back games for the first time this season, Oettinger has rebounded nicely, saving 50 of 55 shots (.909 SV%) in his two games since (2-0-0). Oettinger will look to extend his winning streak on Tuesday as the Stars' starter against the Arizona Coyotes. The Central-Division-leading Stars are sizeable -235 home favourites against a Coyotes team that has impressed with an 8-6-0 record while ranking in the top half of the league offensively (3.36 GF / GP) and defensively (3.00 GA / GP).
Anderson-Dolan returns to the Kings for a second time this season after he was recalled from Ontario on Tuesday. The 24-year-old only appeared in one game in his previous call up, getting one SOG across only 6:51 TOI. He is just a season off of 12 points (7G/5A) in 46 games with Los Angeles in 2022-23.
Tomasino has a goal, an assist, six SOG, two PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through eight games but will be a healthy scratch Tuesday vs. Anaheim. The 22-year-old centre will head to the press box as Michael McCarron takes his spot on the Predators' fourth line.
McCarron has been a healthy scratch for the Predators' last game but will be back in Nashville's lineup Tuesday vs. Anaheim. The 28-year-old has a goal, an assist, four SOG and a +2 plus/minus in five games this season and will take over for Philip Tomasino on the Predators' fourth line.
Jones played sensational in his one game showing with the Avalanche after he picked up an assist and +1 plus/minus in 15:42 TOI in his debut Monday but will head back to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) Tuesday. The 26-year-old will be called upon for depth when needed but for now returns to the minors where he had six assists, and eight PIMs in 12 games prior to his call up.
Malinski made his NHL debut Monday and was a +1 plus/minus across 17 shifts and 12:02 TOI but will head back to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) Monday. The 25-year-old rookie defensemen returns to the Eagles, where he had three goals, six points and two PIMS in 13 games prior to his promotion.
Hanley will enter the lineup on Tuesday for Thomas Harley who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. In his only game this season, Hanley recorded zero points and zero shots while playing 8:20 time-on-ice.
Carter, a healthy scratch in back-to-back games earlier this month, did not participate at practice on Monday and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday. The 39-year-old Carter is averaging 10:16 time-on-ice, a career-low, down more than three minutes from what he was playing last season (13:42). He has zero points and a -2 plus/minus rating in 10 games. The Penguins have recalled Jonathan Gruden as a potential lineup replacement.
Harley left the Stars game on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild, playing only 11:19, when he boarded by Brandon Duhaime. Duhaime received a major penalty and was ejected from the game. Joel Hanley will enter the Stars lineup on Tuesday against Arizona in Harley's absence. In his first season as a full-time NHLer, Harley has five points (3G / 2A) in 14 games.
