Simek will be replaced by Santeri Hatakka on a third pairing on Tuesday. It sounded like it came down to the wire between Simek and Marc-Edouard Vlasic, but ultimately the Sharks elected to stay with the higher-paid veteran.

Krug has missed the last five games while in COVID-19 protocol but will play tonight vs. the Coyotes. Krug had two goals and six assists (eight points) in nine games before entering protocol.
Hoffman will miss his second straight game on Tuesday and will be out until at least next Wednesday (@ WSH) after being placed on IR. Luckily for the Canadiens, Jonathan Drouin will return to the lineup on Tuesday to fill a top-6 hole.
