He will face the surging Pittsburgh Penguins who are in the middle of a three-game winning streak and are seventh in the NHL in shots per game (33.7).
Korpisalo was yanked after allowing three Tage Thompson goals on only nine total shots (.667 SV%) as he took the no-decision in his last start. It has been an up-and-down season for the 28-year-old, who is 4-5-1 with a .899 SV% and 3.65 GAA.
Quick allowed four goals on 31 shots (.871 SV%) in a loss vs. Carolina in his previous contest. The 36-year-old has an 8-7-2 record but has fought the puck all season as shown by his .888 SV% and 3.33 GAA. He takes on the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs, who have won six of their last seven games and have collected a point in 12 straight contests.
Bobrovsky stopped 14 of 15 shots (.933 SV%) in relief his previous time out picking up no result vs. Winnepeg. The 34-year-old has been uncharacteristically horrendous this season, posting. 4-6-1 record, 3.72 GAA, and .880 SV%. HE takes on the Detroit Red Wings, who have won their last two games after beating Tampa 4-2 in their last game.
Barkov is expected to return to the lineup Thursday after missing six games due to pneumonia. The Panthers' superstar had five goals, 13 assists, 74 SOG and nine PPP in 19 games prior to the unfortunate injury.
Knight is considered day-to-day and will miss Thursday due to illness. He is the third Panther this week to miss games due to illness as Aleksander Barkov, and Anton Lundell were both forced to miss time due to illness.
Ranta had three goals, three assists and eight PIMs across 14 games with the Colorado Eagles prior to his promotion to the Avalanche Wednesday. Ranta failed to pick up a point in his previous five-games with the Avalanche and will hope for a call-up again soon to pick up his first career point in 15 GP when he does make his way back into the lineup.
Heponiemi will head back to Charlotte (AHL) after scoring a goal and an assist with two PIMs through seven games with the Panthers. He heads back to the minors where he had four goals, three assists and a +6 plus-minus before his previous call-up.
The reasoning for Lyon's recall has not yet come out but he had been having a mediocre season in Charlotte (AHL) prior to the promotion with a 6-5-2 record, .903 SV% and 2.80 GAA.
