The Panthers have claimed Josh Mahura off of waivers from the Ducks.

Mahura spent the entire 2022 campaign with the Ducks, scoring three goals with four assists (seven points) in 38 games. The 24-year-old blueliner has a chance to be an immediate everyday blueliner with the Panthers, as he'll battle Matt Kiersted for playing time, most likely on the third pair with Radko Gudas.

Samsonov will start Thursday vs. the Capitals.

Samsonov will get his first start as a member of the Maple Leafs a night after they dropped a 4-3 battle to the Canadiens in Montreal. The 25-year-old joins Toronto after three up-and-down seasons in Washington where he collected 52 Wins and a .902 SV% throughout 79 Games started. He will look to solidify the Maple Leaf's crease after Matt Murray gave up four goals on 23 shots the night prior.

Murray will start Wednesday in Montreal.

Matt Murray will make his much anticipated Maple Leafs' debut Wednesday as he leads Toronto in a division battle against Montreal. The 28-year-old is hoping the change of scenery will be exactly what he needs to return to anywhere close to the .923 SV% form he had with Pittsburgh in 2016-17. In 20 starts a season ago, Murray had five wins while pitching a .906 SV% and 3.05 GAA.

The Golden Knights have signed Nicolas Hague to a three-year contract extension worth $6.882 Million ($2.294M AAV)

The 23-year-old defenseman has collected 10 goals and 42 points across 142 games in three years with the Vegas Golden Knights. In 2021-22, he averaged a career-high 18:40 average time-on-ice on way to finishing third among Vegas defensemen with 116 shots on goal. He enters the 2022-23 season expected to be paired on the Golden Knights' third pair alongside Zach Whitecloud.

Kiersted (lower-body) is day-to-day, but there's a "chance he plays on Thursday."

Kiersted was not on the ice for Monday's practice, leaving the Panthers with just five defensemen in practice. Expect Kiersted to skate next to Radko Gudas, if he plays vs. the Islanders. Kiersted has one goal and one assist in 17 career NHL games.

Matt Kiersted
Atkinson (upper-body) is expected to play in the Flyers season opener.

Atkinson missed Monday's practice but is slated to practice on Wednesday and head coach John Tortorella said that he's optimistic that Atkinson will be available for Thursday's game vs. New Jersey. Expect Atkinson to skate on the second line with Morgan Frost and James van Riemsdyk.

Cam Atkinson
Hall (upper-body) is on track to play on Wednesday.

When hall suffered an upper-body injury on October 1st, the Bruins described him as week-to-week. Hall progressed quicker than expected and is expected to play in the Bruins' season opener in Washington. Hall skated on a line with Patrice Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk in Monday's practice.

Taylor Hall
The Oilers have acquired Klim Kostin from the Blues for Dmitri Samorukov.

Kostin was a first-round pick (No.31 overall) in 2017 and cleared waivers on Friday. The 23-year-old forward split the 2022 season between the NHL and AHL. He had nine points (4G / 5A) in 40 games with the Blues. He'll report to Bakersfield (AHL) to start the 2023 season.

Klim Kostin
Hagg (head) could be ready for the Red Wings' season opener.

Hagg re-joined the Red Wings on Friday for the first time since taking a puck to the head in a scrimmage in late September. Hagg, who signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings in the summer, is expected to open the season as their No.6 defenseman next to Gustav Lindstrom. The 27-year-old had nine points (1G / 8A) in 64 NHL games with the Sabres and Panthers in 2021-22.
