It was a rare bad game for Binnington, who leads the NHL in GAA (1.68) and SV% (.933) through 19 starts and two relief appearances. Being one of the NHL’s hottest goaltenders and having a matchup with a Ducks team that has just seven wins in their last 32 games, makes Binnington one of the best options on Wednesday.

Fleury has posted back-to-back shutouts and has won three in a row while stopping 76 of the last 77 shots (.987 SV%) that he has faced. Tonight he faces the Flames for the second time this season—he stopped all 29 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win in their first meeting (Nov.23).

Gauthier is a big-bodied, quality fourth-liner but brings very little offence to the table. Nic Petan is smaller but can play a strong two-way game with more offensive upside, so Petan will replace Gauthier on Wednesday.

Spooner is dealing with an undisclosed injury and will be held out of Wednesday’s game vs. the Maple Leafs. With Spooner out, Tanner Pearson will move up to the Canucks top line to skate with Bo Horvat.
Hutton suffered an apparent foot injury late in Sunday’s loss in Vegas. Since the start of February, Hutton ranks third in the NHL in TOI/GP (26:42) trailing just Drew Doughty and Ryan Suter, so this is a huge loss for the Canucks blueline. Vancouver recalled Guillaume Brisebois from Utica (AHL) to replace Hutton on Tuesday.
Markstrom allowed three goals on 48 shots in the Canucks loss in Vegas on Sunday. Markstrom has lost five of his last six starts (1-3-2) despite posting a song 2.33 GAA, .933 SV% and one shutout. Things won’t get any easier tonight vs. the Maple Leafs—Markstrom allowed five goals on 34 shots in a 5-0 loss in his first start against Toronto this season.
Brisebois has spent most of the season with Utica, where he has three goals and eight assists in 49 games on their blueline. The 21-year-old could play his third career game on Wednesday with Ben Hutton battling a foot injury.
Borgman has registered four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 39 games in his first full season in the AHL.
Guhle left after playing just 9:06 TOI and did not return. This is a tough break for Guhle, who was getting a chance to play with Anaheim after being acquired from Buffalo. Guhle has averaged 20-plus minutes while picking up one assist and 14 shots in his first five games with the Ducks.
Holtby allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Capitals win in New York on Sunday. Holtby has won his last three games while stopping 63 of the 68 shots (.927 SV%) that he faced. Tonight he faces a Flyers team that has gone 4-0-1 in their last five games but could be without both Jakub Voracek and Nolan Patrick tonight.
Gibson has gone 18-9-1 with a 2.89 GAA and .900 SV% in 33 games with Bridgeport this season. Gibson is expected to serve as Thomas Greiss’ backup on Thursday with Robin Lehner getting hurt late in Tuesday’s game after a collision with Brady Tkachuk.
Lehner was forced to leave Tuesday’s game against the Senators following a collision with Brady Tkachuk and did not return. The Islanders called Christopher Gibson from Bridgeport (AHL) on Wednesday morning, which suggests that Lehner will not travel to Ottawa for Thursday’s game. Look for Thomas Greiss to start tomorrow.
Patrick was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Islanders with an upper-body injury but skated on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and will be a game-time decision vs. the Capitals. Patrick said he is “feeling good” but the Flyers will roll with 11 forwards and seven defensemen if he can't play.
Elliott stopped 29 of 30 shots in the Flyers win over the Islanders on Sunday. Since returning from injury, Elliott has gone 3-0-1 with a 2.28 GAA and .936 SV% in four starts and two relief appearances. He will be in tough against a Capitals team that has won six of their last seven while averaging 3.71 goals for per game.
Quick allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Kings win over the Blackhawks win over the Blackhawks on Saturday. It was a rare win for Quick, who has gone 1-4-3 with a 4.63 GAA and .846 SV% in his last eight starts. Tonight he faces the Canadiens for the first time this season—Quick is 8-7-3 with a 2.80 GAA, .906 SV% and two shutouts on home-ice this season.
