Rantanen is “banged up” so his status for Tuesday’s game is up in the air. Keep an eye on Rantanen’s status during tomorrow’s morning skate, but Colin Wilson is expected to skate with Alexander Kerfoot and Gabriel Landeskog if Ratanen can’t play.
Bernier allowed three goals on 32 shots in Colorado’s win in Edmonton last Thursday. Semyon Varlamov returned to the crease in a loss in Winnipeg on Saturday, so Bernier will be back between the pipes tonight vs. the Sharks. Bernier stopped 45 of 48 shots in a 5-3 win in his first start against the Sharks in mid-January.
Glass surrendered four goals on 39 shots in the Blackhawks overtime loss in Calgary on Saturday. Glass has gone 0-2-2 while allowing 15 goals on 143 shots (.895 SV%) in his last five appearances. Tonight he will see the Flames yet again—he is 0-0-2 with a 3.95 GAA and .897 SV% in their first two meetings.
Lundqvist allowed four goals on 27 shots in the Rangers loss in Nashville on Saturday. The last few weeks have been a disaster for Lundqvist, who has been pulled twice while losing five in a row with a 4.46 GAA and .857 SV%. Tonight he faces one of the best home teams in the NHL and comes in at 6-9-2 with a 2.96 GAA and .918 SV% on the road.
Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Lightning’s win in Vancouver on Saturday. Vasilevskiy has won four in a row while posting a 1.75 GAA, .955 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he faces a poor Oilers team in Edmonton—Vasilevskiy is 15-6-1 with a 1.96 GAA and .943 SV% on the road this year.
Staal was slammed into the boards by Alexei Emelin on Saturday after left the game and did not return. Unlike his teammate Jimmy Vesey, Staal was not ruled out for tonight's game until this morning, which bodes well for his chances of playing Wednesday. Monitor his status accordingly.
Talbot (illness) is back in the crease tonight after missing Thursday's game against Colorado. Talbot has had his ups and downs of late; he's won three of his last five but failed to finish the game in both losses. He draws a terrible matchup tonight against Tampa Bay, the league's highest scoring team.
Hornqvist was hurt on Friday and missed Saturday’s game and it looks like he could miss a couple of weeks. Originally the Penguins said it wasn’t a serious injury, but it is likely going to cost him at least the next three games.
Gibson will miss his third straight game with a lower-body injury, leaving the starting duties to Ryan Miller. However, Gibson’s availability for the skate is a good sign that he might be available for Tuesday’s game in Buffalo.
Andersen allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Maple Leafs loss in Boston on Saturday. Despite the loss, Andersen has played well as of late, winning three of his last five while stopping 126 of 137 shots (.920 SV%) with one shutout. Tonight he will face his former team for the second time this season—he stopped 28 of 29 shots in a 3-1 win in Anaheim in early-November.
Kinkaid allowed one goal on 16 shots in the Devils win over the Penguins on Saturday. Since returning from injury, Kinkaid has won three in a row while posting a 1.67 GAA and .928 SV%. The 28-year-old has gone 2-0-0 with a 2.78 GAA and .889 SV% in his two appearances against the Senators this season.
Ward allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Hurricanes loss to the Sharks on Sunday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Ward, who is 11-5-1 in his last 17 starts, dating back to mid-December. With Scott Darling looking completely lost whenever he takes to the net, Ward will continue to start tonight vs. the Flyers.
Hanzal has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury. He has registered just eight points in 33 games this season. He is expected to play on the fourth line tonight.
Khudobin allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Bruins loss to the Ducks on January 30th. Tuukka Rask has started six of the last seven games, but Khudobin will start the tail-end of their back-to-back tonight in New York. The 31-year-old netminder has ben really good this season—he is 6-1-2 with a 2.02 GAA and .938 SV% on the road this season.
Rask allowed one goal on 24 shots in the Bruins win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Rask is on some kind of run right now, having gone 18-0-2 with a 1.56 GAA, .944 SV% and two shutouts in his last 20 starts. He will look to stay hot tonight vs. the Red Wings, who he is 2-0-0 with a 1.51 GAA and .953 SV% against this season.
Rinne allowed two goals on 22 shots in the Predators win over the Rangers on Saturday. Rinne has been red-hot as of late, winning his last seven starts with a 1.56 GAA, .943 SV% and one shutout. The 35-year-old enters Monday’s game at 10-5-1 with a 1.82 GAA and .944 SV% on the road this season.
Miller will make his third straight start tonight while John Gibson remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. After a strong outing against Ottawa, Miller was pulled Saturday against the Habs after allowing three goals on just four shots. He will have a hard time bouncing back tonight against the Maple Leafs, one of the league's highest scoring teams.
Carrick has been passed on the depth chart by Travis Dermott, at least temporarily so he will sit tonight with Roman Polak (illness) set to return to the lineup. Carrick has just one assist in his last six games.
Czarnik was sent down on Sunday but has been recalled ahead of Tuesday’s game in Detroit. Czarnik had one assist in 9:07 TOI on Saturday and has collected two assists in seven games this season.
