NHL Hockey Player News

Pavelec was the first goalie off of the ice at the Rangers morning skate.

Pavelec stopped 21 of 23 shots after replacing Henrik Lundqvist in the Rangers loss in Anaheim on Tuesday. Pavelec has gone 1-4-0 with a 3.54 GAA and .909 SV% on the road this season and will be in tough against the Sharks tonight. They will be without Joe Thornton (knee) but with a lot of other teams in action, there are better options.

Ondrej Pavelec
Markstrom will start Thursday vs. the Sabres.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Canucks win over the King on Tuesday. Markstrom has won three of his last four starts while posting a 2.48 GAA and .915 SV%. Markstrom has been fairly steady this season and tonight he draws a great matchup with the Sabres in town—he stopped 20 of 22 shots in a 4-2 win in his first start vs. Buffalo.

Jacob Markstrom
Fleury will start Thursday vs. the Islanders.

Fleury allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Golden Knights win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Fleury has won three straight while posting a 1.67 GAA and .944 SV%. The Golden Knights continue to be one of the best teams in the NHL and tonight they face the high-scoring Islanders. Fleury is 7-1-2 with a 2.08 GAA and .931 SV% on home ice this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Halak will start Thursday in Vegas.

Halak gave up three goals on 33 shots in the Islanders overtime loss in Arizona on Monday. Halak has gone 3-4-1 with a 3.46 GAA and .909 SV% in eight January starts and tonight he makes his fifth consecutive start. He has goals on wholesale so it probably isn’t smart to roll him out against the NHL’s second placed team, who sit at 19-2-2 on home ice.

Jaroslav Halak
Dell will start Thursday vs. the Rangers.

Dell allowed five goals on 23 shots in the Sharks loss to the Jets on Tuesday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Dell, who will continue his run in net tonight vs. the Rangers. He has gone 5-2-1 with a 2.13 GAA and .924 SV% in seven starts and three relief appearances on home ice this season.

Aaron Dell
Ward will start Thursday in Montreal.

Ward allowed three goals on 33 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Ward has gone 2-4-1 with a 3.23 GAA and .885 SV% in seven starts and one relief appearance in January. Tonight he faces the Canadiens for the second time this season—he stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 3-1 win in his first stat vs. Montreal.

Cam Ward
Bobrovsky will start Thursday in Arizona.

Bobrovsky gave up five goals on 37 shots in the Blue Jackets loss in Vegas on Tuesday. Bobrovsky has lost five in a row while posting an ugly 3.77 GAA and .882 SV%. Bobrovsky has gone 9-9-3 with a 2.86 GAA and .907 SV% on the road this season—however he posted a 35-save shutout in his first start against the Coyotes this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Bernier will start Thursday in St. Louis.

Bernier allowed three goals on 39 shots in Colorado’s loss in Montreal on Tuesday. The win snapped Colorado’s 10-game winning streak but it was still another strong outing for Bernier, who is 8-1-0 with a 1.76 GAA and .950 SV% in January. Tonight he faces a Blues team that get Jaden Schwartz back in the lineup—the Blues are 20-8-2 with Schwartz and 9-10-1 without him.

Jonathan Bernier
Holtby will start Thursday in Florida.

Holtby allowed two goals on 23 shots in the Capitals loss to the Flyers on Sunday. Holtby has lost three straight while posting a 2.69 GAA and .908 SV% and comes into Thursday well rested with Philipp Grubauer starting three of the last six games. Holtby is a strong option tonight with Harri Sateri getting the call for the Panthers.

Braden Holtby
Talbot will start Thursday vs. the Flames.

Talbot allowed four goals on 22 shots in the Oilers loss to the Sabres on Tuesday. Talbot has struggled to a 3.15 GAA and .901 SV% in 38 appearances this season as he continues to be one of the biggest fantasy disappointments. He posted a 27-save shutout in his first start vs. the Flames but he is a risky option on a busy 15-game night across the NHL.

Cam Talbot
Hutton will start Thursday vs. the Avalanche.

Hutton stopped all 25 shots that he faced in the Blues shutout win over the Senators on Tuesday. Hutton has won three of his last four starts while posting a 1.59 GAA, .944 SV% and one shutout. The shutout earned him yet another start tonight vs. the Avalanche. He stopped 38 of 41 shots in a 4-3 win in his first start vs. Colorado, but that was way back when they were still a terrible team.

Carter Hutton
Rask will start Thursday in Ottawa.

Rask allowed two goals on 39 shots in the Bruins win over the Devils on Tuesday. Rask is riding a four-game winning streak, posting a 1.72 GAA and .940 SV% in the process. Rask has been sensational and is a must-start tonight vs. the Senators. He is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .980 SV% and one shutout in his first two games against Ottawa.

Tuukka Rask
Dubnyk is expected to start Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Dubnyk allowed two goals on 23 shots in the Wild’s win over the Lightning on Saturday. Alex Stalock gave him the night off of Monday, but Dubnyk is expected to face the Penguins tonight. Dubnyk has won three of his last four starts while posting a 1.73 GAA and .940 SV%. In his first start vs. the Penguins, Dubnyk stopped 29 of 30 shots in a 2-1 win in late-October.

Devan Dubnyk
Bernier is in the starter's crease at the morning skate.
