Khudobin allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Bruins loss in Washington on December 28th. With Tuukka Rask playing so well Khudobin’s playing time has been limited. Tonight he faces the Hurricanes, who have won eight of their last 11 games (8-2-1) and Khudobin has gone 3-1-1 with a 3.18 GAA and .893 SV% on home-ice this season.
Borgman has picked up two goals and seven assists (nine points) in 40 games this season and has just one assist in his last eight games. Borgman has been playing extremely sheltered minutes so they will give Travis Dermott a shot tonight vs. the Canucks.
Dermott was recalled on Friday and he skated as an extra defenseman at practice, but Dermott will replace Andreas Borgman on the Maple Leafs third pairing. The 21-year-old has picked up two goals and 15 assists (17 points) in 26 games with the Marlies (AHL) this season.
Crouse was in the lineup for the last four games, but after claiming Freddie Hamilton off of waivers, the Coyotes send Crouse to Tucson so he can play. The 20-year-old forward has 10 points (3G / 7A) in 17 games with the Roadrunners.
Capobianco, 20, has only appeared in one game with the Coyotes this season but has picked up 15 points (2G / 13A) in 25 games with the Roadrunners.
Bailey, who is having a massive campaign, played just 2:52 TOI before exiting last night’s loss to the Penguins. The Islanders did not have an update on Bailey postgame, so consider him as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Devils.
Thompson left Friday’s game vs. the Sharks with a lower-body injury after playing just 1:09 TOI. With Thompson sidelined for Saturday’s game, the Senators recalled Colin White from Belleville (AHL) and he will make his season debut tonight.
Dunn was already ruled out for the Blues road trip so they placed him on IR to open up a roster spot to bring Jake Walman up from Chicago (AHL) and on the road trip.
Walman, 21, was a third-round pick (No.82 overall) in 2014 and has 13 points (2G / 11A) in 34 games with the Wolves this season. Walman will likely serve as an extra defenseman during the Blues’ short trip with Vince Dunn (illness) on IR.
White, 20, missed the start of the season after fracturing his wrist in the preseason. Upon returning to Belleville’s lineup, White collected 13 points (5G / 8A) in 27 games. Look for the 2015 No.21 overall pick to make his season debut on Saturday.
Hartman was a late scratch on Friday with an upper-body injury. The Blackhawks said that he didn't feel right at the morning skate so they held him out vs. the Golden Knights. Monitor Hartman's status heading into Sunday's game vs. the Oilers.
The Blue Jackets had Friday and Saturday off, so Korpisalo heads to the AHL to get a start over the weekend. This suggests that Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start on Sunday, which comes at no surprise.
Kruger has missed the last four games but will return to the Hurricanes game in Boston on Saturday. Kruger has just one goal and four assists (five points) in 35 games this season.
Raanta gave up two goals on 39 shots in the Coyotes overtime win over the Predators on Thursday. It was a great outing for Raanta, who has won two of his last three starts while stopping 83 of 90 shots (.922 SV%). The Rangers comes in having lost four of their last six (2-2-2).
Elliott allowed four goals on 31 shots in the Flyers win over the Islanders on Thursday. This afternoon he gets a chance against his former team but comes in having allowed at least three goals in four consecutive games.
Subban allowed three goals on 23 shots in the Golden Knights win over the Maple Leafs on New Year’s Eve. It wasn’t his best outing, but it was enough to record the ‘W’, his 10th of the season. Subban has been sharp all season, posting a 2.25 GAA and .922 SV% in 13 appearances—he makes for an intriguing option as he goes head-to-head with Jeff Glass in Chicago.
