De Leo has recorded five points (2G / 3A) in eight games with the Gulls this season. The 23-year-old has appeared in just two career NHL games, but could play tonight because both Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler are game-time decisions.
Dube missed Tuesday’s practice and is unlikely to play on Wednesday because of a concussion. Dube could be ready by the weekend, when the Flames have a back-to-back in Los Angeles and San Jose.
Varlamov allowed six goals on 37 shots in Colorado’s loss in Calgary last Thursday. Varlamov had a great start to the season but has now lost three in a row while allowing nine goals on 88 shots (.898 SV%). Tonight he faces a Predators team that has won three in a row and four of their last five. Varlamov is 2-1-1 with a 1.76 GAA and .943 SV% on home-ice so far this season.
Raanta left practice a little early as a precaution after suffering a minor “tweak.” Raanta is scheduled to start Thursday’s game in Philadelphia, but Darcy Kuemper will get the nod if he’s unavailable.
Ehn, 22, had one assist in nine games with the Red Wings at the start of the season. Since going to the AHL, the former fourth-round pick registered one goal and three assists (four points) in five games.
Getzlaf was a late scratch from Sunday’s lineup, but could draw back into the lineup on Tuesday. Getzlaf has had some injury concerns, but has been great when in the lineup—picking up two goals and eight assists (10 points) in nine games.
Hertl was forced to leave Saturday’s game vs. the Flyers with an injury, but could play Tuesday. Hertl will likely be back on a line with Logan Couture and Timo Meier and enters Tuesday with 14 points (5G / 9A) in 14 games.
Markstrom allowed six goals on 29 shots in the Canucks win over the Avalanche last Friday. Markstrom has won three in a row while allowing a combined 10 goals on 94 shots (.894 SV%). He could extend his winning streak to four against Red Wings team that is averaging the fifth fewest goals per game (2.64) in the league.
Jones allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Sharks win over the Flyers on Saturday. Jones has gone 5-0-1 while posting a strong 2.47 GAA and .912 SV% in his last six starts. He could have a tough time keeping things rolling against a Wild team that have won seven of their last eight.
Smith allowed five goals on 26 shots but still walked away with the win last Thursday. Giving up four-plus goals has not been rare for Smith this season, who has allowed at least four goals in six of his 10 starts this season—posting a 3.71 GAA, .871 SV% and one shutout overall. He makes for a decent option against a Ducks team that is on the tail-end of a back-to-back and have lost eight of their last nine games.
McElhinney allowed three goals on 22 shots in the Hurricanes loss to the Avalanche on October 20th. Despite posting a 2.76 GAA and .892 SV%, McElhinney has won three of his first four starts with Carolina. The Blues are fourth in the NHL in goal-scoring (3.50 GF/PG) through 12 games, so keep McElhinney on the waiver wire.
Mermis has recorded five points (1G / 4A) in nine games with the Roadrunners this season. Alex Goligoski and Jason Demers were not on the ice for Coyotes’ practice on Tuesday, which could have something to do with Mermis being called-up.
Schmaltz has been a healthy scratch for the last two games, but will replace Jay Bouwmeester tonight vs. the Hurricanes. Schmaltz has just one assist and eight shots on goal in eight games this season.
Bouwmeester played just 14:29 TOI on Saturday and will come out of the lineup on Tuesday. Jordan Schmaltz on the blueline.
Tkachuk was once again on the ice at the Senators facility on Tuesday, but will not play tonight vs. the Devils. Tkachuk shed his non-contact jersey and is “very close” to returning to the lineup. Look for him to be back in the Senators’ top-6 on Thursday.
Borowiecki has been in and out of the Senators lineup recently because of suspensions, but tonight he will sit due to an upper-body injury.
Tanev has missed the last five games with a hip issue that he suffered while blocking a shot in Vegas on October 24th. Tanev will likely log huge minutes while Alex Edler is out, which is nothing new for the Canucks blueliner, who was already playing nearly 22 minutes per night this season.
Pacioretty has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury that he suffered vs.the Lightning on October 26th. Pacioretty will be back on a line with Erik Haula and Alex Tuch. He has just two goals in 10 games, but it is not for a lack of trying—the winger has 26 shots on goal, so that 7.7 SH% should improve closer to his career mark of 11.0%.
Koskinen allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Oilers win in Detroit on Saturday. Koskinen has been impressive and could carve out a larger role if he continues to play well. So far, he is 3-0-0 with a 2.02 GAA, .935 SV% and one shutout in his first three starts with Edmonton.
