Bishop stopped all 19 shots that he faced before being pulled from the Stars season opener with a concussion. Kari Lehtonen started the following night, but Bishop is ready to get back in the crease tonight vs. the Red Wings. His Stars debut was strong and he has been great against Detroit during his career with the Lightning.
van Riemsdyk is in concussion protocol following his Hurricanes’ debut and will not play tonight. With van Riemsdky out, Klas Dahlbeck will draw in on the blueline and all three D-pairs will be shuffled around. Consider TvR as day-to-day.
Lundqvist stopped all 34 shots that he faced in the Rangers’ 2-0 shutout win over Montreal on Sunday. Lundqvist wasn’t originally expected to start but got the nod because he was yanked in Toronto on Saturday. The shutout was big for King Henrik, who struggled in his first two outings. Tonight he faces an undefeated Blues team on the tail-end of a back-to-back.
Chytil averaged just 6:20 TOI in his first two NHL games and served as a healthy scratch vs. the Canadiens on Sunday. The 18-year-old will head to Hartford to work on his game—Adam Cracknell will take his spot on the roster after being claimed off of waivers from Dallas.
With Adam Cracknell being claimed off of waivers by the Rangers, the Stars had an open roster spot to bring Elie up. The 22-year-old winger brings speed and grit to the Stars’ fourth line and had seven points (1G / 6A) in 18 games with Dallas last year. Look for him to get into the lineup vs. Detroit on Tuesday.
Heinen, 22, spent most of last season with Providence, but did get eight games with the Bruins—he failed to record a point. The former fourth-round pick had 14 goals and 30 assists (44 points) in 64 AHL games a season ago and one helper in the first game of this season.
Anderson made 29 saves on 30 shots in Ottawa’s shootout loss to the visiting Red Wings on Saturday. Anderson has lost each of his first two starts via the shootout while stopping 53 of 59 shots (.914 SV%). Tonight he will make his first start outside of Ottawa—he went 12-6-2 with a 2.38 GAA, .927 SV% and three shutouts on the road a season ago.
Raanta made 40 saves on 42 shots in the Coyotes’ overtime loss to the Golden Knights on Saturday. After sitting out the season opener with a lower-body injury, Raanta was excellent in his Coyotes debut. Like other Arizona netminders before him, Raanta will be a busy netminder this season. He’ll get another crack at Vegas in his second start of 2017-18.
Andersen surrendered five goals on 35 shots in the Maple Leafs’ 8-5 win over the Rangers on Saturday. It wasn’t a great statistical outing for Andersen, who has now posted a 3.50 GAA and .903 SV% in two starts, but he has received a whopping 15 goals in support so far. Toronto like to play an up-tempo, free-wheeling game so Andersen may be under siege a lot this season, but should walk away victorious more often than not.
Jake Allen started the first three games of the season, but Hutton will start the second game of the Blues back-to-back tonight in New York. Last year, the 31-year-old backup went 13-8-2 with a 2.39 GAA, .913 SV% and four shutouts. He has been one of the better backups over the years but his first start comes against a Rangers team averaging 3.00 goals per game so far.
Armia played in each of the Jets’ first two games, but will be replaced tonight in Edmonton. Armia has posted a minus-4 rating and has failed to record a shot on goal so far this season.
Dano was a healthy scratch in Calgary on Saturday, but will replaced Joel Armia in the lineup tonight in Edmonton. Dano played just 8:06 TOI with a minus-1 rating in his only game so far this season.
Jagr was back on the ice for the Flames’ morning skate, but the Flames said that he won’t play tonight and that they have a plan for him. Curtis Lazar will remain in the Flames lineup tonight with Jagr still sitting in the press box.
Smith gave up three goals on 28 shots in the Flames’ win over the Jets on Saturday. Smith’s Flames career has gotten off to a great start, as he has stopped 67 of 72 shots (.931 SV%) that he has faced through two starts. Tonight he will start in Anaheim, where the Flames have had basically no success for years.
Getzlaf missed the first two games of the season, but was on the ice for the Ducks morning skate and could return to the lineup tonight vs. the Flames. If the veteran centre does return tonight, it’s worth noting that he had six assists in five games vs. the Flames last season.
Ritchie missed Saturday’s game vs. the Flyers with a lower-body injury he suffered in the season opener. Ritchie has been listed as questionable for tonight. Throughout his young career, Ritchie has never recorded a point in eight games vs. the Flames.
Gibson allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Ducks’ overtime loss to the Flyers on Saturday. In the early part of the season, Gibson has gone 1-0-1 with a 3.48 GAA and .896 SV% and tonight he’ll start his third straight game vs. the Flames. Calgary has opened the season 1-1-0 with six goals for.
Kempe, 29, was a fifth round pick (No.122 overall) in 2007 but has played in just six career games in North America, spending the last three seasons in KHL and Sweden before that. Kempe had one goal and two assists (three points) in his Tucson Roadrunners debut, earning a call-up to the big club.
