NHL Hockey Player News

Rinne is expected to start Monday vs. the Jets.

Rinne allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Predators’ overtime loss to the Kings on Thursday. Despite Juuse Saros getting the win on Saturday, look for Rinne to be between the pipes tonight vs. the Jets. Rinne is 16-5-4 with a 2.37 GAA and .915 SV% on home ice this season.

Pekka Rinne
Ekblad (concussion) will miss 7-10 days.

Ekblad was forced from Saturday’s game in Tampa Bay with a concussion and is expected to miss at least one week—which is four games for the Panthers this week. This is a tough loss for the Fantasy playoffs because Ekblad has four points (2G / 2A) and a ridiculous 51 shots in his last 11 games.

Aaron Ekblad
Paquette (lower-body) will miss at least the next two games.

Paquette did not travel on the Lightning’s two-game road trip, so he won’t play Monday or Tuesday. There has been no update on the severity of Paquette’s injury, so monitor his status leading up to Thursday’s home game vs. the Maple Leafs.

Cedric Paquette
Johnson (lower-body) won’t play on Monday but traveled on the two-game road trip.

Johnson will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury that he suffered last Thursday vs. the Wild. He traveled with the team which suggests he shouldn’t be sidelined longterm, but there’s nothing to suggest that he will play on the trip.

Tyler Johnson
Namestnikov (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Monday.

Namestnikov missed Saturday’s game vs. the Panthers, but was on the ice for the morning skate and head coach Jon Cooper said he is a “possibility” for tonight’s game in New York. Namestnikov has nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 62 games this season.

Vladislav Namestnikov
Ward will start Monday in Brooklyn.

Ward allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Hurricanes’ overtime loss to the Maple Leafs on Saturday. He will make his third straight start, having allowed six goals on 69 shots (.913 SV%) in his previous two starts. The 33-year-old has gone 2-0-0 with a 3.91 GAA and .884 SV% in two starts vs. the Islanders this season.

Cam Ward
The Predators have recalled Miikka Salomaki from his long-term injury loan.

Salomaki, 24, hasn’t played in the NHL since October 15th and played four games with Milwaukee (AHL) as he worked his way back from a lower-body injury. He had one goal in four games with the Admirals and has 11 points (6G / 5A) in 64 career NHL games.

Miikka Salomaki
Schultz is expected to be back in the Flyers’ lineup on Monday.

Schultz has been a healthy scratch for the last four games, but will replace Brandon Manning (upper-body) in the lineup tonight. Schultz has just four assists in 17 games this season.

Nick Schultz
Mason will be in goal Monday vs. the Blue Jackets.

Mason gave up two goals on 27 shots in the Flyers’ loss in Boston on Saturday. Mason has gone 3-1-1 with a 1.56 GAA, .949 SV% and one shutout in his last five starts and tonight he will get the net for the sixth time in seven games. Tonight he’ll face his former team for the second time this season—he made 23 saves in a 2-1 OT loss in the first.

Steve Mason
Budaj will start Monday in New York.

Budaj allowed four goals on 34 shots in a loss in Pittsburgh on March 3rd. Tampa Bay was badly outplayed by the Penguins and Budaj stood tall in his Lightning debut and tonight he will make his second start. He will face a Rangers team that played last night and who have won three of their last four.
