After losing four straight, being outscored 18-6, the Red Wings responded with an impressive 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals in their most recent outing. Lyon was excellent in the win over the Capitals, saving 25 of 27 shots (.926 SV%). The 32-year-old netminder has a 2.91 GAA and .897 SV% in 13 appearances this season (6-5-0). The Red Wings enter Tuesday's contest as -123 home favorites against a Pittsburgh Penguins club they defeated 3-2 on November 13th.

Thompson has won four of his last five, allowing three or fewer goals in each and posting a stellar .924 SV%, continuing his excellent 2024-25 campaign. The 27-year-old netminder has a 2.38 GAA and .916 SV% in 18 games (14-2-2). The Capitals are coming off a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings and enter Tuesday's contest as -144 home favorites against a Boston Bruins club coming off a 4-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Kovalenko was a healthy scratch in Saturday's game vs. the Flames, but he'll replace Carl Grundstrom (undisclosed) in Tuesday's lineup. Since joining the Sharks, Kovalenko has picked up five assists and four shots in eight games.

Appleton missed Monday's game vs. the Predators, and head coach Scott Arniel called him week-to-week post-game. Alex Iafallo moved up to play with Adam Lowry and Nino Niederreiter in Appleton's absence.

This comes as no surprise after it was announced Fleury would be week-to-week with the lower-body injury. Dominic Toninato was recalled from Manitoba in a corresponding move.

Toninato is yet to play an NHL game in 2024-25 after registering five points in 15 games with the Jets last season. The Jets placed Haydn Fleury (lower-body) on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Gustafsson will slot in for Mason Appleton, who was a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury. Gustafsson has appeared in just five games this season and is yet to register a point.

Appleton was a surprise scratch on Monday, with his absence not being announced prior to warmups. David Gustafsson will take his place in the lineup while Alex Iafallo will move up to take Appleton's usual place on Winnipeg's third line.

Coghlan has not played much this season, limited to only two games with Manitoba (AHL) and one with Winnipeg (NHL). The 26-year-old defenseman had 41 points (16G / 25A) in 61 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL) last season.

Heinola will take a seat on Monday as Dylan Coghlan draws into the lineup. Heinola is yet to register a point in 11 games this season.

Hellebuyck has won five straight and will return to the crease on Monday against the Nashville Predators. The 31-year-old Hellebuyck has been sensational all season, a leading candidate for the Vezina trophy. He has posted an incredible 2.06 GAA and .928 SV% in 29 games (23-5-1) and has only allowed nine goals in his last five games (5-0-0), posting a tremendous .937 SV%. The Jets enter Monday's contest as -117 home favorites against a Predators club that defeated them 4-1 on November 23rd.

The Predators will roll with Saros between the pipes for a third straight game on Monday when they visit the Winnipeg Jets. Saros struggled in his previous outing, allowing five goals on 15 shots (.667 SV%) in a 7-4 loss to the St. Louis Blues. The 29-year-old netminder has a 2.81 GAA and .903 SV% in 29 games this season (8-15-6). The Predators enter Monday's contest as +105 road underdogs against a Jets club leading the NHL with 26 wins.

With Joey Daccord still sidelined with an upper-body injury, the Kraken will hand Grubauer the start for a second straight game on Monday. Grubauer got the win his last time out, allowing four goals on 22 shots in a 5-4 overtime victory in Vancouver on Saturday. It was a much needed win for the 33-year-old netminder, who has lost ten of his 14 starts on the season. He's got a good chance of staying in the win column on Monday as the Kraken enter action against Utah as slight underdogs at +125 on the money line.

Smith has been out of the lineup since suffering an injury in the third period of Chicago's December 12th game against the New york Islanders. The 35-year-old Smith has 10 points (6G / 4A) in 26 games while averaging 11:47 time-on-ice.

Martinez has been out of the lineup since December 7th but appears to be nearing a return to the Blackhawks lineup. The 37-year-old Martinez is averaging 20:05 time-on-ice, recording four points (1G / 3A), 38 blocks, and four hits in 15 games.

The Blackhawks have struggled lately, being outscored 21-10 during a four-game losing skid, and will hope to change their fortunes with Mrazek between the pipes in the Winter Classic on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues. After starting the season with a solid .912 SV% in his first 16 games (7-8-1), Mrazek has fallen off significantly, posting a lousy .844 SV% in his last six appearances (0-5-0). The Blackhawks enter Tuesday's contest as +125 home underdogs against a Blues club coming off a 4-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
