The Penguins sent Casey DeSmith to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

DeSmith came up to backup Tristan Jarry while Matt Murray was out for one-game, but with Murray back over the weekend, he returns to the AHL where he has gone 10-5-1 with a 2.72 GAA and .911 SV% in 17 games.

Casey DeSmith
Andersen is projected to start Tuesday vs. the Lightning.

Andersen allowed five goals on 30 shots in the Maple Leafs loss in Vegas on Sunday afternoon. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Andersen, who finished the 2017 calendar year at 20-11-1 with a 2.71 GAA, .920 SV% and three shutouts. He will be in tough in his first start of the season vs. the Lightning, but has been solid at the Air Canada Centre, going 9-4-0 in 13 games.

Frederik Andersen
The Islanders have reassigned Steve Bernier to Bridgeport (AHL).

Bernier has a healthy scratch for three of the last four games and didn’t pick up a point in four games during his call-up. The veteran returns to the Sound Tigers, where he has 10 goals and four assists (14 points) in 21 games.

Steve Bernier
Niederreiter (ankle) isn’t expected to play Tuesday; probably return on Thursday.

Niederreiter is expected to miss his fifth straight game with an ankle injury but he will likely play on Thursday as long as he makes it through Wednesday’s practice unscathed. This will be a huge boon for the Wild, who are getting Zach Parise (back) in the lineup for the first time this season on Tuesday.

Nino Niederreiter
Parise (back) is “good-to-go” for Tuesday’s game vs. Florida.

After just one game with Iowa (AHL) and a few practices with the Wild, Parise is set to make his season debut on Tuesday. After missing the first 39 games of the season with a back injury, Parise comes into 2017-18 after picking up just 19 goals and 23 assists (42 points) in 69 games last year.

Zach Parise
The Blue Jackets have recalled Zac Dalpe from Cleveland (AHL) on an emergency basis.

The Blue Jackets have a forward who is questionable for Tuesday due to an illness, so Dalpe comes up as an extra forward. He has seven points (1G / 6A) in 12 games with the Monsters but has failed to record a point in 10 games with the Blue Jackets.

Zac Dalpe
Kruger (lower-body) remains day-to-day; not expected to play Tuesday.

Kruger is expected to miss his third straight game after missing Monday’s practice. Kruger will remain out of the lineup but still doesn’t have any fantasy value upon his return—he has just five points (1G / 4A) in 35 games this season.

Marcus Kruger
The Bruins have reassigned Peter Cehlarik to Providence (AHL).

Cehlarik has missed the last 16 games with a lower-body injury so he will return to Providence to get back up to speed. The 22-year-old has two points (1G / 1A) in five games with Boston and six points (3G / 3A) in six games with Providence.

Peter Cehlarik
Hellebuyck will start Tuesday vs. the Avalanche.

Hellebuyck stopped all 35 shots that he faced in the Jets win in Edmonton on Sunday. Hellebuyck has won five of his last six starts while posting a 1.65 GAA, .949 SV% and two shutouts. As the calendar flips to 2018, Hellebuyck sits third in the NHL in wins (21) and eighth in both GAA (2.37) and SV% (.923 SV%).

Connor Hellebuyck
Rask will start Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

Rask stopped all 25 shots that he faced in the Bruins shutout win in Ottawa on Saturday. Rask has won five in a row, posting a 0.98 GAA, .964 SV% in one shutout. Rask has been ridiculously good dating back to late-November, going 10-1-1 in his last 12 starts. Tonight he faces the Islanders for the second time this season—he stopped 30 of 31 shots in a 3-1 win in vs. the Isles on December 9th.

Tuukka Rask
Howard leads the Red Wings onto the ice for warmups.

Howard allowed two goals on 39 shots in the Red Wings shootout win over the Rangers on Friday. The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Howard, who will make his fifth straight appearance tonight vs. the Penguins. Howie comes in at 2-3-0 with a 2.19 GAA and .928 SV% in his last five starts.
