Andersen will start for the Ducks.

Andersen allowed one goal on six shots after replacing John Gibson in the Ducks loss to Carolina on December 11th. Tonight will be Andersen’s first start since November 21st after missing time due to illness. Andersen is 4-7-4 with a 2.55 GAA and .913 SV% on the season and tonight he will start in New Jersey—he comes in at 1-6-1 with a 2.85 GAA and .907 SV% on the road.

Murray will make his NHL debut on Saturday.

Murray, 21, was a third round pick (83rd overall) in 2012 and has been excellent in the AHL this season. He has gone 12-4-0 with a 1.84 GAA and .938 SV% with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). Tonight he will make his NHL debut against a Hurricanes team that ranks 24th in the NHL in scoring (2.41 goals per game).

Rinne is expected to start Saturday vs. the Wild.

Rinne allowed two goals 33 shots in the Predators loss in St. Louis on Thursday. Rinne has lost three in a row and sits at 2-4-2 with a 2.52 GAA and .902 SV% in December. Rinne will make his third start of the season vs. the Wild—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 3.02 GAA and .893 SV% in his first two starts vs. Minnesota.

Nilsson starts Saturday in Colorado.

Nilsson allowed three goals on 20 shots in the Oilers loss in New York on Tuesday. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Nilsson. Cam Talbot has started two of the last three, but it will be Nilsson tonight in Colorado. Nilsson has gone 3-6-0 with a 2.43 GAA and .923 SV% on the road this season.

Varlamov will start Saturday vs. the Avalanche.

Varlamov allowed one goal on 34 shots in Colorado’s win over the Islanders on Thursday. Varlamov has won five consecutive games while posting a 0.99 and .969 SV%. He has turned things around in a big way and he should make for a good start tonight vs. an Oilers team that has lost two in a row following a six-game winning streak.

Halak will be in goal in Arizona on Saturday.

Halak allowed four goals on 16 shots in the Islanders loss to the Panthers on Tuesday. Halak has gone 3-1-1 with a2.48 GAA and .916 SV% in December. Tonight will be Halak’s second start against the Coyotes this season—he stopped 31 of 33 in a 5-2 win over Arizona on November 16th.

Ward starts Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Ward allowed one goal on 17 shots in the Hurricanes loss to the Panthers last night. His light workload will allow him to go again tonight in Pittsburgh. Ward is 2-1-0 with a 3.34 GAA and .872 SV% in four starts in December. Ward has been up and down all year and has struggled on the road, going 3-6-0 with a 2.86 GAA and .884 SV% this season.

Mason will start vs. the Blue Jackets on Saturday.

Mason stopped all 36 shots that he faced in the Flyers shutout win over the Canucks on Thursday. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Mason, who will start against his former team for the second time this season. He allowed four goals on 34 shots in a 4-1 loss in the first meeting.
