Haula was injured early in the Wild’s win over the Coyotes on Saturday. On Monday, the Wild recalled Pat Cannone to take Haula’s spot in the lineup, a sign that the two-way centre will not play on Tuesday.
Gibson allowed two goals on 11 shots after replacing Jonathan Bernier in the Ducks’ 6-4 loss in Detroit on Saturday. Gibson has had a tough time in December, going 3-2-1 with a 3.19 GAA and .887 SV%. Tonight he will start in Toronto, where he will go head-to-head with his former crease-mate Frederik Andersen. Gibson has gone 3-5-4 on the road this season.
Cannone has picked up four goals and 12 assists (16 points) in 29 games with Iowa this season. The 30 year has earned an NHL call-up after spending the last five years in the AHL. Cannone is expected to make his NHL debut on Tuesday with Erik Haula injured.
Howard allowed three goals on 30 shots in the Red Wings’ loss to the Kings on Thursday. Petr Mrazek started on Saturday, but they’ll go back to Howard tonight in Carolina. Howard has gone 0-2-1 with a 2.35 GAA and .913 SV% in December and tonight will be his seventh start on the road. He has gone 3-2-0 with a 2.20 GA and .925 SV% away from Detroit.

Smith is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and will not play Monday vs. the Ducks. With Smith out, Josh Leivo will be in the lineup
Bozak is dealing with an upper-body injury and will not play tonight vs. the Ducks. With Bozak out, Frederik Gauthier has been recalled from Toronto (AHL) and he will draw into the lineup. Bozak's injury will also force William Nylander to play centre.
Gardiner has had a very strong year for the Maple Leafs, scoring six goals and eight assists (14 points) in 30 games. He has been even more impressive recently, scoring two goals with three assists (five points) in his last five games.
Vatrano was on a conditioning stint with Providence over the weekend and scored a goal in both games. Vatrano had been sidelined with torn ligaments in his foot that he suffered in the preseason. The 22-year-old has eight goals and three assists (11 points) in 39 career NHL games (all in 2015-16). Expect him to be in the lineup on Tuesday.
Green left Saturday's game with an upper-body injury after a hit from Ryan Kesler and he will be held out of the lineup tonight vs. the Hurricanes. With Green sidelined, Brian Lashoff or Nick Jensen, who was recalled this morning will draw into the lineup.
Mason allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Flyers’ loss in Dallas on Saturday. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for for Mason, who will face the Predators for the second time this season. Mason stop 30 of 32 shots in a 4-2 win in the first meeting—he is 7-1-0 with a 2.35GAA an .919 SV% in December.
Ward allowed one goal on 24 shots in the Hurricanes’ win over the Sabres on Saturday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Ward, who is now 3-1-3 with a 2.32 GAA and .915 SV% in December. He had a rough go in his first start vs. the Red Wings, allowing for goals on 25 shots in a 4-2 loss. However, the Red Wings come in to play struggling to score in December.
Andersen allowed a single goal on 34 shots in the Maple Leafs’ overtime win over the Penguins on Saturday. The 27-year-old has gone 2-1-3 with a 1.76 GAA and .940 SV% in December and tonight he will take on his former team at the Air Canada Centre. Andersen is 9-4-2 with a 2.53 GAA and .920 SV% on home-ice this season.
Gauthier, 21, has picked up one goal and three assists (four points) in 16 games with the Marlies. The former No. 21 pick (2013) has one assist in seven career NHL games with the Maple Leafs. There’s no word whether or not he will make his season debut on Monday.

The 2009 fifth round pick has one goal and five assists (six points) in 27 games with the Griffins. Don’t expect him to make his NHL debut unless one of the Red Wings’ regular defensemen gets injured.
Marchenko will miss his third straight game with a shoulder injury, so they moved him to IR, so they could recall Nick Jensen to be an extra defenseman on their three-game road trip. Expect Marchenko to be out until after Christmas.
Bailey played in the Senators’ back-to-back over the weekend, but with Mike Hoffman set to return from suspension on Tuesday, Bailey will return to the AHL.
