Hutchinson will start for the Jets.

Hutchinson gave up four goals on 23 shots in the Jets loss in Calgary on Monday. He has dropped three consecutive starts while posting an ugly 4.75 GAA and .849 SV%. Despite his recent struggles, Hutchinson has gone 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .971 SV% against the Blackhawks this season.

Kane will have shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

The Jets medical staff elected it is best for Kane to undergo season ending shoulder surgery. There is no word on when Kane will undergo the surgery, but the expected recovery time is 4-6 months. It looks like he has played his final game in a Jets uniform.

Evander Kane
Lundqvist will be sidelined for at least one month with a neck injury.

Lundqvist was hit in the throat in Saturday’s game against Carolina. The exact nature of the injury is not known, but Henrik has been experiencing intermittent headaches. He underwent testing yesterday and the Rangers say that he did not develop a blood clot, nor is he suffering from nerve damage or post-concussion symptoms. Regardless of what his injury is, he will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Henrik Lundqvist
Elliott starts in goal for the Blues.

Elliott allowed one goal on 31 shots in the Blues win over the Lightning on Tuesday. He was given last night off, but will start tonight in Columbus. He enters play having won five straight games with a 1.76 GAA and .940 SV%. He has a strong matchup against a Blue Jacekts team who have lost four of five while scoring only eight goals.

Brian Elliott
Reimer will start vs. the Devils.

Reimer stopped all four shots that he faced after briefly replacing Jonathan Bernier in Tuesday’s loss to the Predators. Reimer is 6-10-0 with a 3.17 GAA and .908 SV% on the year, but hasn’t won a game since December 14th. He has a nice matchup against the low-scoring Devils, but the Leafs are ice cold right now, making him a risky start.

Lundqvist (neck) missed Friday’s practice.

Missing practice puts Lundqvist’s status for Saturday’s game in serious doubt. The Rangers have been quiet on how long they expect him to be out, but we should get an update this afternoon. If King Henrik can’t go, look for Cam Talbot to be in goal again.

Henrik Lundqvist
The Capitals have recalled Philipp Grubauer from Hershey (AHL).

Grubauer, 23, has gone 16-9-4 with a 2.03 GAA and .924 SV% in Hershey this season. He has not played in a game for the Capitals this year, but you have to think he has been recalled to start tonight vs. the Ducks. The Capitals will announce the corresponding roster move later today.

Philipp Grubauer
Garrison left Thursday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Garrison played 10:16 before being forced from the game with a lower-body injury. The Lightning have eight defensemen on their roster right now, so they will have no problem replacing Garrison if he misses Saturday’s game vs. the Kings.

Jason Garrison
Murphy left Thursday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Murphy had to be helped off of the ice after he appeared to suffer a knee injury. Murphy played just 2:50 before retiring to the dressing for the night. Consider him questionable for Saturday’s game vs. the Saturday’s game in San Jose.

Ryan Murphy
Timonen (blood clots) will resume skating on Friday.

Timonen, 39, has not played since being diagnosed with blood clots in his leg and lungs in August. Timonen said his plan was to skate on his own for seven to 10 days, and if that goes well, join the Flyers for practice. If Timonen can return, it would be a huge boost for the Flyers blue line, he had 35 points (6G / 29A) in 77 games a season ago.

Kimmo Timonen
Niemi starts in goal for San Jose.

Niemi allowed four goals on 40 shots in the Sharks shocking loss to Edmonton on Monday. He did not start last night, so it looks like he will face Vancouver tonight. In his first start against the Canucks he allowed three goals on 19 shots in a 3-2 loss. In 18 road starts, Niemi is 10-6-2 with a 2.54 GAA and .921 SV%.

Antti Niemi
Varlamov leads the Avalanche onto the ice for warmups.

Varlamov allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Avs win over the Stars on Tuesday. He has won three of his last four starts while posting a 1.93 GAA and .932 SV%. Varlamov gets the nod vs. the Red Wings are the Pepsi Center—he is 9-4-1 with a 2.11 GAA and .934 SV% at home
