Heinen has played the last three games for the Blue Jackets, but will head to the sidelines as a healthy scratch on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 30-year-old Heinen has two points (1G / 1A) in 16 games this season.

Columbus acquired Heinen off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins last week and reported to the Cleveland Monsters (AHL). The 30-year-old NHL veteran of 579 career games has spent most of the season in the AHL, where he has 18 points (6G / 12A) in 13 games.

With healthy bodies returning to Pittsburgh's lineup, Heinen was placed on waivers with the intention of being assigned to the AHL, but has instead been sent to the Columbia Blue Jackets via trade. With healthy bodies return to Pittsburgh's lineup, Heinen was placed on waivers and will be reassigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL). Before being called up in November, Heinen was having a tremendous run at the AHL level, with 17 points (6G / 11A) in 12 games.

With Evgeni Malkin (upper body) and Blake Lizotte (undisclosed) placed on Injured Reserve, Pittsburgh has recalled Danton Heinen and Samuel Poulin from Wilkes-Barre Scranton (AHL). The 30-year-old Heinen is an NHL veteran of 575 games, but has spent most of the 2025-26 season in the AHL, where he has 18 points (6G / 12A) in 12 games.

Injuries to Justin Brazeu and Noel Acciari have allowed Pittsburgh to recall Heinen from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). Heinen has accumulated 241 points (96G / 145A) in 566 career games over the last decade, but was unable to crack Pittsburgh's roster to start the season. The 30-year-old Heinen has 14 points (5G / 9A) in 10 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL this season.

Heinen was acquired from Vancouver on Friday night and is expected to arrive in Pittsburgh in time for Saturday's game, but it's unclear if he will make his Penguins season debut or not. Heinen has 18 points (6G / 12A) in 51 games this season.

Heinen had to wait until a few weeks into the season to sign with Boston off a PTO in 2023-24 and has earned an early contract heading in 2024-25 after signing a two-year deal worth $4.5 million ($2.25M AAV) with Vancouver. The 28-year-old was a natural fit in Boston's lineup last season, with 17 goals and 36 points in 74 games played.

Heinen has not played since Game 5 vs. the Maple Leafs and remains day-to-day. Despite not being available for Game 3, Heinen did participate in Friday's morning skate, which suggests that he's not far from returning to the Bruins' lineup.

Heinen missed Game 6 with an undisclosed injury but was on the ice for Saturday's morning skate and could play in Game 7. So far, Heinen has one assist, five shots and nine hits in five games in the series.

Heinen missed the morning skate Thursday due to an undisclosed injury and will be out for Game 6 as he is considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old signed with Boston on a PTO this season and has an assist, five SOG and a -1 plus/minus through five games before his injury.

Heinen has been at camp with Boston on a PTO since the preseason and will make his season debut on Monday after he finally signed a one-year, $775,000 contract earlier today. The 28-year-old left-winger had eight goals, 14 assists, 96 SOG, 12 PIMs, and a -5 plus/minus in 65 games with Pittsburgh in 2022-23. He is entering his eighth NHL season and returns to Boston where he spent the first four years of his career. Patrick Brown will sit out in place of Heinen.
