The Islanders recalled Colin McDonald from Bridgeport (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Casey Cizikas is questionable for Tuesday’s game, so McDonald has been recalled and will play if Cizikas can’t play. McDonald has 14 goals and 20 assists (34 points) in 38 games with Bridgeport this season.

Varlamov starts in Dallas on Tuesday.

Varlamov stopped all 23 shots he faced in the Avs 3-0 shutout win over the Predators on Friday. It was Varlamov’s fourth shutout of the season and moved him to 13-10-7 on the season. He went 7-3-2 with a 2.06 GAA and .938 SV% in January. Tonight Varlamov makes his second start vs. the Stars—he made 37 saves in a 4-3 win in their last meeting.

Semyon Varlamov
Smith will be back between the pipes on Tuesday.

Smith gave up five goals on 20 shots in the Coyotes loss in Ottawa on Friday. Despite Louis Domingue recording the W on on Sunday, the Coyotes will go back to Smith tonight in Columbus. Smith has been terrible on the road this season, going 3-12-2 with a 3.43 GAA and .891 SV% away from the desert.

Mike Smith
Bernier will face the Predators on Tuesday.

Bernier gave up three goals on 45 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to the Coyotes on Thursday. It was another ugly loss for Bernier, who went 1-7-1 with a 2.90 GAA and .896 SV%. The entire team has been terrible for the last month, but they will look to get off to a hot-start in February tonight in Nashville. He was pulled after giving up three first period goals in their last meeting.

Jonathan Bernier
There's a "good chance" Lack will start on Tuesday.

Ryan Miller has lost three of his last four starts, so it looks like it will be Lack tonight vs. the Jets. He allowed five goals on 30 shots in a loss in Nashville on January 13th. Lack is 3-6-2 with a 2.61 GAA and .912 SV% this season, but catches a break with the Jets coming off of a tough loss in Calgary last night.

Eddie Lack
Shattenkirk will undergo abdominal surgery and is listed as week-to-week.

Shattenkirk will have the procedure in the next seven to 10 days and be listed as week-to-week following its completion. He eads all defensemen with 32 assists and ranks second with 40 points overall through 49 games this season. Expect him to miss at least two weeks, but with the week-to-week tag, there will not be daily updates on his status.

Kevin Shattenkirk
Hutchinson will make his third straight start.

Hutchinson allowed five goals on 32 shots in the Jets loss to Dallas on Saturday. He has lost each of his last two starts while allowing a combined nine goals on 63 shots (.857 SV%). He will start tonight in Calgary—he has gone 8-2-2 with a 2.23 GAA and .927 SV%.

Michael Hutchinson
Niemi starts in goal Monday vs. Edmonton.

Niemi stopped all 31 shots that he faced in the Sharks 2-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks on Saturday. Niemi has won each of his last three starts while allowing a total of five goals. He is a must-start tonight with the Oilers in town—Niemi is 11-5-3 at home this season.

Antti Niemi
Hiller gets the start on Tuesday vs. Winnipeg.

Hiller allowed two goals on 19 shots in the Flames win over the Oilers on Saturday. He has been great since the All Star break, winning two of three with a 1.35 GAA and .942 SV%. Hiller gets the nod tonight vs. the visiting Jets—he is 9-7-1 with a 2.24 GAA and .908 SV% at home.

Jokipakka, 23, has registered five assists in 19 games with the Stars this season. He swapped places with Jamie Oleksiak, but it doesn’t look like he will be in the lineup on Tuesday vs. the Avalanche.
