Miller was injured in the Bruins’ preseason finale on Saturday and his status for the start of the regular season is in question. An injury to Miller opens up a spot next to Zdeno Chara, which will likely be filled by Brandon Carlo.

McQuaid missed some practice sessions over the weekend with an undisclosed injury and it looks as if he will not be ready for the start of the regular season. McQuaid’s injury leaves the door open for Brandon Carlo and/or Robbie O’Gara to crack the opening night roster.

Manning has been bothered by a shoulder injury during the preseason, but it looks like he will be ready to play in the Flyers’ season opener. This is good news for Philadelphia, who will be without Michael Del Zotto (lower-body) and Radko Gudas (suspension) for at least the first six games.

Gudas was suspended for six games after his shoulder-to-head hit on Bruins’ rookie Austin Czarnik on Saturday night. The Flyers’ will already be without Michael Del Zotto on the back-end, but it looks like Brandon Manning (shoulder) will be healthy enough to replace Gudas in the season opener.

Gaudreau and the Flames waited until the final hour to get a deal done, but it was worth it for both the player and the team. Gaudreau gets $6.75 million per season and the Flames get one of the most dynamic wingers in the league for under $7 million per seasons. In his first two years in the NHL, Gaudreau is 12th in scoring, having picked up 54 goals and 88 assists (142 points) in 159 games. He definitely a top-5 left wing heading into 2016-17, with the potential to be among the top-3 at the position.

Bourque, 26, has spent his entire career in Nashville, picking up just 78 points (31G / 47A) in 242 career games. However, he was let go by the Predators this summer and has made the Avalanche out of training camp after being brought in on a professional tryout.

Bourque only appeared in 49 games with the Blue Jackets last season, picking up just eight points (3G / 5A). The 34-year-old winger makes the Avalanche opening night roster after being invited into training camp on a professional tryout.

Lindberg continues to recover from offseason hip surgery and was finally able to shed his no-contact jersey on Monday. Lindberg will not be ready for the regular season and remains 2-4 weeks away from being ready to play.

Petry suffered a knee injury in Thursday’s preseason game and will miss the start of the regular season. With Petry out, Mikhail Sergachev will make his NHL debut against the Sabres on Thursday. Petry is listed as day-to-day.

Korpikoski was just released by the Flames, but signed on with the Stars, who have been brutalized by injuries in the preseason. Korpikoski is coming off of 22 points (10G / 12A) in 71 games with the Oilers last year and should play in the Stars’ bottom-6.

Konecny, 19, was the 24th overall selection in 2015 and made the Flyers’ opening night roster following a great training camp. Konecny had 101 points (30G / 71A) in 60 games between the Ottawa 67’s and Sarnia Sting (OHL) last year and will star this year in the Flyers’ top-6 on a line with Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek.

It has been a while since we’ve seen Crosby and concussion in the same sentence, but on Friday, Crosby’s old demons returned as he suffered a concussion in practice. It is normal to not have a definitive timetable when someone has a concussion, but it’s even more difficult when someone has had multiple concussions before. The Penguins will take every precaution with their captain, which obviously clouds his availability for the season opener.

Price is battling the flu just three days prior to the start of the regular season, but he will be ready for the season opener vs. the Sabres. Price is coming off of an injury ruined season, but looked terrific in the World Cup of Hockey and enters 2016-17 as a top-3 fantasy netminder. Make sure he is in your lineups on Thursday.

Hellebuyck is the goalie of the future in Winnipeg and they know that, so that’s why the waived Ondrej Pavelec this afternoon and named Hellebuyck to the opening night roster. Hellebuyck had 13 wins with a 2.34 GAA and .918 SV% in his first NHL season and should serve as their No.1 netminder ahead of Michael Hutchinson this season. Hellebuyck gets a huge bump in goalie rankings following this latest development.

Scuderi is not known for his offence and basically lost his spot in the lineup when the Kings brought in Zach Trotman and Tom Gilbert this summer.

Michalek, 33, has picked up just 29 points (8G / 21A) over the last three seasons and his physical brand of defence can be made up by a younger blueliner in Arizona. The Coyotes have an abundance of young defensemen and Michalek appears to be on the outside looking in.

Parenteau being waived was one of the biggest surprises of training camp. The veteran winger signed a one year deal with the Islanders this summer in the hope that he would be able to rekindle his old chemistry with John Tavares. However, it looks as if the Islanders would rather get a little younger and have someone like Mathew Barzal or Josh Ho Sang instead of the 33-year-old Parenteau.

Pulkkinen, 24, is only one year removed from posting ridiculous numbers with Grand Rapids in the AHL. The Finnish winger had 34 goals and 27 assists (61 points) in 46 games that year, but has struggled to get regular playing time in Detroit ever since. Pulkkinen has a lethal shot, but scouts say he may lack the foot speed necessary to have a huge impact at the NHL level. So far, he has just 11 goals and nine assists (20 points) in 70 career NHL games, but still has a ton of upside, so don’t be surprised if a team doesn’t hesitate to add him to their roster for free.

Condra had 11 points (6G / 5A) in 54 games in his first year with the Lightning, but finds himself on waivers, where he will likely clear and head to the AHL. If Condra is picked up by another team, he will be limited to a fourth line role.

Lander, 25, enjoyed a nice finish to the 2014-15 season, which led to high expectations last year. He was never able to live up to them, picking up an awful three points (1G / 2A) in 61 games with the Oilers. The former second round pick has been placed on waivers with the intention of sending him to Oklahoma City (AHL) and he should go unclaimed.
