The Coyotes have acquired Philip Samuelsson from the Penguins for Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional fifth round pick .

Samuelsson, 23, was the Penguins second round pick (61st overall) in 2009. The 6-foot-2 blue liner is not known for his offensive game, but has a reliable defensive game. He had four assists in 22 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) this season. Samuelsson will likely report to Portland (AHL).

The Penguins have acquired Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional fifth round pick from the Coyotes for Philip Samuelsson.

Klinkhammer, 28, is 6-foot-3, 220 lbs. and has spent the last three years in the Coyotes organization. This season he has recorded three goals and a plus-3 rating in 19 games with Arizona. The Penguins are battling a bunch of injuries upfront, so they bring in Klinkhammer to provide some depth.

Weiss missed practice for personal reasons; expect to play Saturday.

Well I am sure Weiss’ absence at practice this morning worried a ton of Red Wings fans and fantasy owners who just picked him up. He has been sizzling since returning to the lineup and should be in for another good game tomorrow vs. New York. His one downside, you would like to see him play more, he is averaging just 12:17 TOI in seven games.

Stephen Weiss
Talbot starts on Saturday vs. Detroit.

Talbot stopped all 26 shots that he faced in the Rangers’ 3-0 shutout win over the Flyers on November 28th. Talbot has posted back-to-back shutouts while stopping all 57 shots that he has faced. He draws a tough matchup tonight vs. the Red Wings’ offence, who rank 4th in the NHL with 3.12 G/PG.

Cam Talbot
Komarov (head) is questionable for Saturday’s game.

Komarov missed Friday’s practice, which suggests he will miss Saturday’s game vs. Vancouver. Coach Carlyle said that Komarov didn’t suffer a setback, but wasn’t feeling well enough to practice today…So it sounds like he suffered a setback.

Leo Komarov
Price will start vs. the Blackhawks.

Price stopped 33 of 35 shots, but it wasn’t enough as the Habs dropped Wendesday’s game vs. Minnesota 2-1. Tonight he will get the start in Chicago which likely leave Dustin Tokarski for Saturday in Dallas. Price has posted a 1.62 GAA and .948 SV% in his last five games—resulting in three wins.

Carey Price
Fistric (back) is expected to return to the Ducks blue line on Friday.

Fistric has been sidelined with a back ailment since October 30th, but it looks like he will replace Mat Clark in the Ducks’ lineup tonight vs. Minnesota. He has yet to record a point and is a minus-1 while averaging 11:03 TOI in three games this season.

Mark Fistric
Neuvirth will start for the Sabres on Saturday.

Tonight will be Neuvirth’s first start since November 18th. He stopped all 10 shots that he faced, before leaving the game with a lower-body injury. Jhonas Enroth has played very well as of late, but Neuvirth was no slouch himself before getting injured. He has posted a 2.85 GAA and .920 SV% on a subpar Sabres squad.

Michal Neuvirth
Dahlbeck could make his NHL debut on Saturday vs. Nashville.

Dahlbeck, 23, was the 79th overall pick in 2011. After spending three years in Sweden, he is now in his third full year in North America. He has totalled 12 goals and 29 assists (41 points) in 97 AHL games through last year and 22 games this season. No word on who would come out of the lineup to make room for Dahlbeck.

Klas Dahlbeck
Kuemper starts Friday for the Wild.

Kuemper allowed one goal on 19 shots in the Wild’ 2-1 win over the Canadiens on Wednesday. It was a big win over a good Montreal team, but he draws another tough matchup tonight against the visiting Anaheim Ducks. However, Kuemper is 7-2-0 with a 2.08 GAA and .902 SV% at home this season.

Darcy Kuemper
Weiss (groin) did not take part in the Red Wings’ practice on Friday.

Weiss was listed as a game-time decision for Thursday’s game, but did play and actually recorded a goal and two assists, which gives him nine points (4G / 5A) in seven games since returning from injury. This is the Stephen Weiss that the Red Wings were expecting when they signed him to a fat contract, but with the recent success you have to remember he is as big of an injury risk as any player in the NHL. Monitor his status prior to Saturday’s clash with the Rangers.

Stephen Weiss
Megna skated on the Penguins top line in practice on Friday.

With Patric Hornqvist not on the ice this morning after suffering an injury last night, Megna filled his spot on the Penguins top line with Sidney Crosby and Nick Spaling. Pittsburgh is without Crosby's two usual linemates in Chris Kunitz and now Hornqvist so they will need someone to step up and fill those shoes. For now it looks like it will be Megna, who now has some sneaky value in one-day leagues.

Jayson Megna
Suter (mumps) will not play on Friday.

Suter took part in the Wild’s morning skate which was a good sign that he might play, but the Wild will wisely hold him out tonight and allow him to have the weekend to recover because they are off until next Tuesday. Chrisitan Folin is expected to remain in the lineup for Suter.

The Hurricanes have assigned Drew MacIntyre to Charlotte (AHL).

MacIntyre was recalled to serve as Anton Khudobin’s backup last night with Cam Ward out with a minor lower-body injury. With MacIntyre heading back to the AHL that suggests that Ward is back to 100 percent and will be available for Sunday’s game vs. Detroit.

Drew MacIntyre
The Penguins have recalled Bryan Rust from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

Rust, 22, was the Penguins third round pick (80th overall) in 2010. His recall likely means that Patric Hornqvist’s injury last night will keep him sidelined for a little while at least. Rust has 11 points (7G / 4A) in 22 games with WBS.

Bryan Rust
Hornqvist (upper-body) left Thursday’s game and did not return.

Hornqvist left last night’s game after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Canucks’ defenseman Ryan Stanton. Hornqvist has been excellent in his first year in Pittsburgh so losing him for any period of time would be crushing. The Penguins recalled Bryan Rust from the AHL this morning, which is not encouraging news for Hornqvist owners.

Patric Hornqvist
Rask leads the Bruins onto the ice for warmups.

Rask stopped 25 of 28 shots in the Bruins loss to the Ducks on Monday. He was given Tuesday night off, but will be back in goal tonight in San Jose. He has just one win in his last four despite posting a 2.24 GAA and .925 SV%. The Sharks are not playing great right now and Rask has never lost two San Jose in three career starts, so don’t hesitate with Rask.
