He is a must-start tonight vs. a Maple Leafs team that has lost six consecutive games.

There is no word on how serious Halak’s injury is, but look for Thomas Greiss to get the nod on Wednesday. The Islanders are carrying three goalies, so a short-term injury wouldn’t handcuff the Isles.

Demers left Tuesday’s game after playing just 11:01 TOI and could miss the remainder of the regular season. The Stars are now down to five healthy defensemen on the roster with John Klingberg also day-to-day. Expect them to make a call-up prior to Friday’s game vs. the Blackhawks.

Varlamov is 13-10-3 with a 2.96 GAA and .905 SV% on home ice this season and tonight’s matchup vs. the Ducks is about as tough as it gets right now.
