Price allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Penguins on Tuesday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Price, who sits at 11-4-1 on the year. He draws another brutal matchup tonight with the Blues in town, but he has posted a strong 8-3-0 record with a 2.45 GAA and .917 SV% at home this season.
Giroux was originally ruled out for the next two games, but called GM Ron Hextall before the game tonight and said he felt “fine”. The Flyers got Giroux to the arena and he will be in the lineup tonight on a line with Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek. Giroux has 21 points (5G / 16A) in 16 games this season.
Smith has an infection in his hand following a fight with Nick Foligno on Tuesday night. He had already been ruled out of Thursday's game, but it seemed possible that he would be able to join the team in Toronto. Now that he has been placed on IR he won't be eligible to play until next Wednesday vs. the Flyers.
The Red Wings placed Brendan Smith (hand) on the seven-day IR so Ouellet has been recalled to serve as the Red Wings seventh defenseman. Ouellet had a great training camp and nearly made the Red Wings. He has recorded one goal and four assists in 13 games with Grand Rapids this season and could see action in the next week while Smith is sidelined.
Gorges suffered a knee injury on November 11th vs. the Blues and is expected to miss multiple weeks. Placing Gorges on IR allowed the Sabres to recall Nathan Lieuwen from Rochester to back-up Jhonas Enroth while Michal Neuvirth is out. Tyson Strachan will continue to play on the top-pair with Gorges out.
With Michal Neuvirth out with a lower-body injury, the Sabres have recalled Lieuwen to serve as Jhonas Enroth’s backup. Lieuwen has gone 3-4-0 with a 3.53 GAA and .876 SV% with Rochester this season.
Giroux reportedly walked into the arena with a walking boot. This comes a day after the Flyers said that Giroux was “fine” and then announced that he would miss the next two games. So Giroux will take part in warmups and should be considered a game-time decision.
Chaput, 22, has recorded two assists with eight penalty minutes and averaged 10:51 of ice time while playing in all 18 games this season with the Blue Jackets. With a healthy Matt Calvert and Jack Skille set to return on Friday, there was no longer room for Chaput.
McGinn missed his second straight practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Thursday’s game vs. the Capitals. If McGinn is unable to go, expect Dennis Everberg to take his spot on the third line.
Gormley was recently placed on IR without a timetable, but head coach Dave Tippett said today that Gormley is “progressing nicely” and should only miss a week to 10 days. Gormley has one goal and an EVEN rating in six games with the Coyotes.
Kuemper stopped all three shots that he faced in relief of Niklas Backstrom on Sunday vs. Winnipeg. He was credited with the win, which gives him eight on the season. Tonight he is expected to get the start in Philly. Kuemper has gone 2-4-0 with a 2.35 GAA and .911 SV% on the road this season.
Paquette has played well during his most recent recall haven scored five goals in his last seven games, but was injured in the first period of Tuesday’s loss to the Islanders. Brett Connolly is nearing a return so Paquette was already likely heading back to the AHL.
The injuries on the Bruins’ blue line continue to mount. McQuaid was limited to just 30 games last season and his injury woes continue. Expect Zach Trotman, who was sent down yesterday, to be recalled. However, Kevan Miller should get into the lineup on Friday.
Garbutt, who missed Tuesday’s game with the upper-body injury, will miss at least two or three more games.
Smith suffered the infection in a fight with Nick Foligno and he will not travel to Winnipeg. Smith could meet the team in Toronto for Saturday’s game, but Jakub Kindl will get into the lineup on Thursday.
Russell missed Tuesday’s game, but head coach Bob Hartley said that Russell could be back tomorrow vs. the Blackhawks. This is good news that the injury is not serious and Russell should be back in the lineup soon. Russell has eight assists in 19 games this season.
McDonagh, who skated for the first time since being injured on Tuesday, was back on the ice by himself on Wednesday. McDonagh said that he is “coming along” and confirmed that he is on track to return in about two weeks. McDonagh should miss about 5-7 more games.
Kassian, who has missed the last five games, was activated from IR on the weekend and will play tonight in Edmonton. Kassian has two goals and two assists in 13 games this season.
Ramo stopped 23 of 25 shots in the Flames 4-2 victory over the Senators last Saturday. He sat during the last two games, but will be back in between the pipes tonight vs. New Jersey. Ramo has been strong at home—1-1-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .909 SV% and gets a Devils team on the tail-end of a back-to-back.
Hiller stopped 24 of 27 shots in a win over his former team on Tuesday. Hiller has been collecting wins, but has allowed three or four goals in each of his last five starts. Tonight he draws a tough matchup against a Blackhawks team who are starting to find their scoring touch.
