Stalock, who was scheduled to start on Tuesday must have suffered an injury in warmups, which is why Antti Niemi ended up getting the call in goal. With Stalock to IR, the Sharks have recalled Troy Grosenick from Worcester (AHL).
Boyle was back in practice again on Wednesday and practiced on the top pair with Marc Staal as well as taking part in power-play drills, both good signs that he will be in the lineup when the Rangers take on the Avalanche.
Hertl picked up one assist with a plus-1 rating and three shots in the Sharks’ 4-1 loss to the Panthers last night. He was moved up to the first line prior to yesterday’s game, but only played 13:38 which means he was likely bumped down midway through the contest. He is back on the third line this morning, so expect him to stay there to start Thursday’s game in Tampa Bay.
Ward stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Hurricanes 4-1 win over the Flames on Monday. He has been ridiculous as of late, winning five in a row while allowing just seven goals on 130 shots (.946 SV%). He draws a solid matchup against the Jets at home, where he is 4-1-1 with a 2.12 GAA with a .920 SV%.
The Bruins have a back-to-back tonight and tomorrow but Tuukka Rask has already started both games of a back-to-back once this season (Oct 8-9). He was not on the ice for the morning skate which suggests he might get the nod tonight, but we will have to wait until warmups to confirm that.
After the Canadiens acquired Sergei Gonchar from the Stars on Tuesday, one of their young defensemen needed to be sent down. They have elected to go with Nathan Beaulieu over Tinordi for now. That could be Sunday’s decision,” said coach Quenneville. It’s the third time in his two stints with the Blackhawks that Carcillo has suffered a knee injury.
Bellemore missed Monday’s game against the Flames with an upper-body injury. His return to practice is a good sign that he could be back on the blue line for Thursday’s contest vs. the Jets.

Rinne allowed one goal on 29 shots in the Predators win over the Blues on Saturday. Rinne has won three in a row and four of the last five while posting a 1.81 GAA and .939 SV%. Fleury allowed a single goal on 21 shots in the Penguins 6-1 blowout of the Sabres. It was Men vs. Boys on Saturday, but that won’t be the case in The Big Apple on Tuesday.
