NHL Hockey Player News

Raanta starts for the Blackhawks.

Raanta gave up five goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Senators last Friday. Raanta has lost his last five starts while allowing 3.40 goals per game and posting an .868 SV%. He will be in tough as he goes head-to-head with Sergei Bobrovsky who appears to be dialled in down the stretch.

Antti Raanta
Rinne starts for the Predators.

Rinne gave up seven (yes 7!) goals on 29 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Stars last Friday. He was given Sunday night off, but will be back between the pipes tonight vs. the Ducks. Rinne has won just three of his last 10 starts with a 3.37 GAA and .887 SV%. This season may be lost, but look for a healthy and improved Rinne next season.

Pekka Rinne
Sedin (knee) likely back in the Canucks lineup on Saturday.

Updating an earlier report: John Tortorella said he expects to have Sedin back in his lineup tomorrow. Sedin has missed the last four games but will likely be centering a line with Chris Higgins and Nicklas Jensen on his wings Saturday. This does not matter much to the Canucks, but could mean a lot to fantasy owners. Henrik was dropped in 11% of Yahoo! leagues, so take a peek for his availability.

Henrik Sedin
Scrivens will start for the Oilers.

Scrivens allowed five goals on 33 shots in a Tuesday's loss in San Jose. He has allowed a total on 24 goals in his last six appearances (4 G/G). Since coming to Edmonton he has seen his GAA go from 1.97 to 2.55 while his SV% has dropped from .931 to .922. Tonight, he goes up vs. the Coyotes, who are fighting for their playoff lives.

Ben Scrivens
Yakupov (ankle) is not expected to play again this season.

It has been a forgettable season for Yakupov who will look to improve his play in both ends of the rink in 2014-15. At the start of the season he was viewed as a strong keeper option, after this disastrous season there are a number of better options as long as he remains in Edmonton.

Nail Yakupov
Jones (concussion) is on the ice for the Predators' morning skate, but it appears he won't play.

Jones was cleared to return to game action on Tuesday, but he is not taking part in line rushes this morning. Usually if a player is returning he will skate along side his D partner in practice--Jones is not which suggests he will miss his fifth consecutive game.

Seth Jones
Greiss starts for the Coyotes.

Greiss gave up four goals on 32 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Kings on Wednesday. He has lost his last three starts with a 2.28 GAA and .916 SV%. He will continue to start for the Coyotes with Mike Smith out. Tonight, he draws a strong matchup with the Oilers in the desert.

Thomas Greiss
Sedin (knee) is skating again on Friday.

Sedin has missed the last four games but is skating again this afternoon. The Canucks' season is virtually over, so unless Henrik is 100 per cent, John Tortorella likely will not put him into his lineup. Monitor his status leading up to Saturday's game.

Henrik Sedin
Miller gets the start on Saturday.

Miller stopped all 31 shots that he faced in a 1-0 shootout win over Flyers on Tuesday. It was his 10th win and first shutout with the Blues. His 2.01 GAA and .920 SV% are excellent and he has already beat this Avalanche team so feel confident about starting him this after and for the rest of the season.

Ryan Miller
Hackett will be in goal for the Sabres.

Hackett surrendered four goals on 33 shots in a loss to the Lightning last Saturday. Since being recalled by the Sabres, he has one win in his last four starts with a 3.29 GAA and .908 SV%. Tonight, he will look to spoil the Red Wings three-game winning streak. But should not be counted upon against the red-hot Gustav Nyquist and the returning Pavel Datsyuk.

Matthew Hackett
Hiller starts for the Ducks.

Hiller allowed four goals on 23 shots in a loss to the Oilers last Friday. He was given the last three games off after head coach Bruce Boudreau said he was "fatigued". The 32-year-old will start vs. the Predators having gone 16-5-4 with a 2.01 GAA and .927 SV% at home this season. He is also 1-0 vs. Nashville thus far.

Jonas Hiller
The Sabres have placed Rostislav Klesla on unconditional waivers.

This move effectively ends Klesla's NHL career. Klesla refused to report to Rochester (AHL) after being dealt to Buffalo at the trade deadline. Unconditional waivers means the Sabres will buy out his contract and any other team can pick him up for $125. Yep, no joke $125 dollars.

Lupul (lower-body) is listed as day-to-day; doubtful for Saturday.

Lupul is in danger of missing his second straight game with a lower-body injury. The exact nature of the injury is not known, but it looks like it will hold him out of tomorrow's meeting with the Jets. Jerry D'Amigo will likely stay in the lineup if Lupul is unable to go.
