NHL Hockey Player News

Johnson was the first goalie off of the ice at the Bruins morning skate.

Johnson stopped 22 of 24 shots in a 4-2 in over the Devils on Tuesday. He has won each of his last four starts with a 1.50 GAA and .940 SV%. With the Bruins entering game-1 of a back-to-back, it looks like Johnson goes tonight vs. the Avalanche which means Tuukka Rask tomorrow vs. the Coyotes. Johnson has never faced the Avs, but is 7-3-1 with a 2.70 GAA and .906 SV% on the road this season.

Chad Johnson
Kesler (knee) is on the ice for Canucks practice.

Kesler is skating on a line with his regular linemates Chris Higgins and and Jannik Hansen. He was expected to miss at least a "couple of weeks" and has been out for nine days. Skating on his regular line would suggest that he could be back in the lineup on Sunday. Expect a full update after practice.

Ryan Kesler
Miller starts in goal on Saturday vs. Flyers.

Miller allowed four goals on 27 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Wednesday. It was the first time with St. Louis that he had allowed more than three goals as well as losing in regulation. The Hawks are likely the Blues biggest competition in the West so don't get used to seeing the 'L' next to Miller's stat line. On Saturday, he will face a Flyers team who have won four in a row.

Ryan Miller
Barrie will play on the wing with Max Talbot and Cody McLeod again Friday.

Barrie played 19:03 with one assist, two shots and a plus-1 rating in Wednesday's game. With the injury to John Mitchell it allowed Patrick Roy to move his offensive defenseman up to the third line. Barrie has two goals and six assists in his last 12 games.

Tyson Barrie
Kuemper will get the start vs. the Red Wings on Saturday.

Kuemper gave up three goals on 28 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Bruins on Monday. All of a sudden, Kuemper has lost four of his last five, despite posting a 2.34 GAA and .921 SV%. On Saturday, he will face a Red Wings team who are banged up, but still playing good hockey as they battle for a 23rd straight playoff appearance.

Darcy Kuemper
Fasth starts on Saturday vs. the Flames.

Fasth stopped 28 of 29 shots in a win over the Predators on Tuesday. Since coming to the Oilers, Fasth has gone 2-0-1 with a 1.58 GAA and .940 SV%. He appears set to have another strong outing this evening in Calgary. The Flames, much like the Oilers are playing better hockey, but they are coming off of a loss to the Preds last night.

Viktor Fasth
The Predators have recalled Calle Jarnkrok form Milwaukee (AHL).

Jarnkrok, who was acquired from the Red Wings at the trade deadline in a deal that sent veteran David Legwand to Detroit, is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday. Jarnkrok's recall was prompted by an upper-body injury to Paul Gaustad. Jarnkrok earned the recall after scoring five goals with two assists (seven points) in his first five games with Milwaukee. He is expected to centre Gabriel Bourque and Craig Smith.

Calle Jarnkrok
Bennett (wrist) will be assigned to Wikes-Barre/Scranton for a conditioning assignment start Saturday.

Bennett has been skating with the Penguins lately, but will need some AHL game action before returning to the Penguins lineup. Bennett has missed four months with a wrist injury that he called "fluky". Expect Bennett to play two or three games with the Baby Penguins.

Beau Bennett
Andersson (foot) participated in Red Wings' practice Friday.

Andersson said that he felt good after his first full practice since breaking his foot. He would not commit to how soon he would return, but said it will matter with how much pain he can deal with. He will not play tomorrow but monitor Andersson's status before Sunday's game vs. the WIld.

Joakim Andersson
Helm (concussion) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Helm confirmed that he would be in the lineup tomorrow afternoon, but Mike Babcock was less committal about Helm playing. Coach Babcock said that Helm will take pre-game warmups and then they will see how Helm feels before deciding if he plays. He would centre the fourth line with Cory Emmerton and Landon Ferraro on his wings with Teemu Pulkkinen taking a seat.

Darren Helm
Khudobin will be in goal vs. the Blackhawks.

Khudobin stopped 46 of 47 shots in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. After a three-game losing streak, Khudobin turned in a fabulous performance. He will need to be top-form again tonight as he gets set to take on the Blackhawks. One positive for Khudobin, is the Hawks will be without Patrick Kane, Brandon Saad and Bryan Bickell tonight.

Anton Khudobin
Lehner back in goal for Senators on Saturday; Anderson still not ready.

Lehner allowed five goals on 28 shots in a loss to the Lightning on Thursday. He has lost all four starts while posting an ugly 4.66 GAA and .863 SV% since Craig Anderson got hurt. With Andy still sidelined he will get the call this afternoon in Dallas. The Stars have lost their last four games, but Lehner is struggling too much to be trusted right now.

Robin Lehner
Howard starts on Saturday vs. Minnesota.

Jimmy Howard
Mitchell (back) did not skate on Friday morning.

Mitchell, who suffered a back injury on Tuesday will likely miss his second straight game tonight when the Avs take on the Bruins. Colorado was expecting to have him back tonight, but it looks like Tuesday in Nashville is more likely.

John Mitchell
Prust will miss the rest of the regular season with an upper-body injury.

After playing all 82 games in both seasons with the Rangers prior to coming to Montreal, Prust has missed 40 of the 130 (31%) of regular season games with the Habs in the last two seasons. He finished this season the 13 points (6G / 7A) in 52 games. The Canadiens have him signed through the next two seasons at $2.5 million per year, so they would like to start seeing some durability out of the big forward.
