NHL Hockey Player News

Clutterbuck (upper-body) could return to the Islanders lineup tonight.

Head coach Jack Capuano did not know what his lineup would be tonight, other than Thomas Vanek being out. Clutterbuck has missed the last three games after scoring a goal and adding an assist in his first 12 games with the Islanders. They will likely announce their lineup later in the afternoon, stand-by.

Cal Clutterbuck
Mazanec gets the nod for the Predators.

Mazanec will make his first NHL start vs. the Islanders tonight. He stopped 22 of 24 shots in a relief effort on Friday. Facing the inconsistent Islanders, you don't know what to expect from the 22-year-old.

Marek Mazanec
Howard starts for the Red Wings.

Howard surrendered three goals on 34 shots in his second straight overtime loss on Saturday. Tonight he takes on a Jets team who fired 47 shots at him on November 4. Howard was the best player on the ice that night, but the loss started a three game skid for the Wings. Expect a bounce back from Howard tonight at Joe Louis Arena.

Jimmy Howard
Vanek (upper-body) will not play tonight.

Vanek worked out off-ice today but did not skate and will miss his second straight game. He was injured after playing just 0:23 in Saturday's loss to Columbus. Vanek could skate tomorrow and it appears as if he will avoid the IR and should be back in the Isles lineup shortly.

Thomas Vanek
Thomas in net for the Panthers.

Thomas gave up four goals on 29 shots in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers on Sunday. He has lost both starts since returning from a leg injury - Thomas has posted a 3.56 GAA and .885 SV% in those starts. He is a dangerous start tonight vs. the NHL's top team (15-3-1 Anaheim Ducks).

Miller vs. Quick.

Miller surrendered six goals on 34 shots before being pulled for the third period in a blowout loss to the Ducks on Friday. Yep, the Sabres gave up 34 shots in two periods… Miller can not be trusted as a fantasy netminder until he is traded.

Ryan Miller
Poulin in goal for the Islanders.

Pouling allowed four goals on 31 shots in a loss to the Canadiens on Sunday. He as seen more crease-time with Evgeni Nabokov struggling. He has one win in five appearances while posting a 2.62 GAA and .908 SV%. Poulin has a good matchup tonight vs. Nashville.

Kevin Poulin
Holtby starts for the Capitals.

Holtby allowed four tallies on 37 shots in a losing effort to the Avalanche on Sunday. It was a tough matchup for Holtby, who saw his three-game winning streak snapped. He has been rock-solid as of late so he should be a strong start at home vs. Columbus.

The Lightning have recalled Dmitry Korobov from Norfolk.

Korobov is a 24-year-old defenseman who has six assists in 13 games with Norfolk. The Lightning saw Sami Salo and Keith Aulie go down on Monday, so Korobov provides them with depth on the blueline.

Dmitri Korobov
The Lightning have recalled J.T Brown from Norfolk (AHL).

Brown is a 23-year-old winger who has four goals and six assists (10 points) in 13 games with Norfolk (AHL). With the injury to Steven Stamkos the Lightning will have to undoubtedly juggle their lineup to try and replace the lost production.

JT Brown
Fasth (lower-body) has been assigned to Norfolk on a long-term injury conditioning loan.

Fasth has been out since October 18 and has seen his replacement Frederik Andersen go 6-0-0 with a 1.41 GAA and .952 SV%. It will be interesting to see how the Ducks handle this situation - Fasth was great in his rookie season and signed a two-year extension, but will the Ducks send a 6-0 Andersen down?

Viktor Fasth
Peters starts for the Hurricanes.

Peter's had his two-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Wild on Saturday. He stopped 28 of 30 shots - his third strong outing in a row. However, you should likely stay away from Peters tonight when he faces the second place Colorado Avalanche.
