NHL Hockey Player News

The St. Louis Blues announced today the club has placed forward Magnus Paajarvi on injured reserve.

Paajarvi has no points and is a minus-1 through his first four games with the Blues. His placement on IR is likely retroactive to October 26th, which would make him eligible to return on Saturday vs. Tampa Bay - but that is not official.

Magnus Paajarvi
As reported yesterday, Bruns is officially out for tonight vs. Los Angeles.

Burns will miss his fifth consecutive game with a mouth injury that he suffered on October 19th. The Sharks haven't skipped a beat without Burns, but his eight points in eight games has fantasy owners chomping at the bit for him return. Consider him questionable for Saturday vs. Phoenix

Brent Burns
Havlat (pelvis) will make his season debut tonight.

Havlat missed training camp, the pre-season and the first 12 games because of offseason pelvis surgery. Havlat used to be a consistent 20-plus goal scorer in the earlier part of his career - but in recent years it has been nearly impossible for him to stay healthy. He will play on a line with Joe Pavelski and Tommy Wingels.

Martin Havlat
Red Wings head coach Babcock said Danny DeKeyser will play on first pair tonight with Niklas Kronwall.

DeKeyser has been solid to start his first full NHL campaign. He has logged 20-plus minutes in all of the last five games and is averaging exactly 20 minutes through 12 games. He has two assists and a plus-3 rating, but the move to the top-pair should give him a fantasy boost.

Dan DeKeyser
Howard vs. Luongo in Vancouver tonight.

Despite playing great, Howard was on the wrong end of a 3-2 overtime finish on Saturday. Howard made a number of awesome saves to keep the Red Wings in the game, but they had a hard time beating Cam Talbot at the other end. He is surprisingly 3-4-2 through nine starts, and his value is taking a hit as the Wings continue to struggle offensively.

Jimmy Howard
Luongo starts vs. the Red Wings.

Luongo stopped 17 of 19 shots as he eased his way to a victory over the Capitals on Monday. It was his third straight win and now has seven on the season. He will face a Red Wings team who are uncharacteristically bad in offensive end right now - they're ranked 23rd in the NHL in scoring.

Roberto Luongo
Martin Havlat (pelvis) is on the ice for Sharks morning skate at Staples Center.

Havlat missed training camp, the pre-season and the first 12 games because of offseason pelvis surgery. He could make his season debut tonight vs. the Kings, but should be considered a game-time decision until the Sharks provide an official update. Havlat used to be a consistent 20-plus goal scorer in the earlier part of his career - but in recent years it has been nearly impossible for him to stay healthy.

Martin Havlat
Dustin Penner (concussion) said he should be ready to go tomorrow night against Boston.

With Teemu Selanne out with a facial injury, a spot in the lineup is wide-open for Penner to slide back in. Kyle Palmieri will likely move up into the second line RW spot left vacant by Selanne. Penner will probably return on the Ducks third line.

Paajarvi (upper-body) questionable for Friday.

Paajarvi missed Tuesday's game vs. the Jets and also missed Wednesday's practice with an upper-body injury. The Blues will decide tomorrow if Paajarvi will travel with the team to Florida for Friday's contest with the Panthers.

Magnus Paajarvi
Morrow missed practice Wednesday morning with an upper-body injury.

Morrow was injured five minutes into the third period on Tuesday on a Mark Stuart cross checking penalty. The Blues will decide tomorrow if Morrow will travel with the team to Florida for Friday's contest with the Panthers.

Brenden Morrow
Roman Josi (concussion) is considered probable for tomorrow night's game at Phoenix.

Predators head coach Barry Trotz plans to give him "top four" minutes, but did not commit to pairing. Josi, who has missed the last 10 games, has mostly been skating with Kevin Klein in practice. He will likely play 20-plus minutes on a regular basis, and could push for 30 points if he stays healthy for the remaining 70 games.

Morin was recalled on Sunday but did not make an appearance for Dallas. He returns to the AHL where he leads the league in points (18) through eight games.
