The Blackhawks will be without both Patrick Sharp and Dave Bolland when they visit the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Neither made the trip.

The Hawks said Bolland has a lower-body injury. Bolland took a Shea Weber shot off the foot in Monday's win over Nashville. He tried to return, but had to leave the game. He did play the full game, including overtime, against St. Louis on Thursday.

Sharp has missed the Blackhawks last 12 games. He continues to wait for clearance to return from a shoulder injury suffered on March 6.

Claude Noel confirms that Byfuglien will be back playing on the blue line tomorrow v. PHI #NHLJets #tsn

The Jets are struggling right now and trying everything to get something going. They lost last night with Byfuglien at forward so they will send him back to defense.

Viktor Fasth will start in goal. BB said Jonas Hiller has a cold but should be able to back up.

Fasth has won each of his last two starts while posting a 1.00 GAA, .961 SV% and one shutout. He has a good matchup tonight vs. a slumping Stars team who have lost three straight.

Niemi starting tonight, fantasy hockey players. #sjsharks

Niemi has been as steady as they come as of late. He stopped 31 of 33 shots that he faced in a 4-2 win over the WIld last night. The win pushed his winning streak to six games. He has a fantastic matchup tonight against a weak Flames team.

Minnesota State senior Eriah Hayes has signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. The deal is reportedly a two-way, two-year deal, and because Hayes turns 25 in July, it is not an entry-level deal.

Hayes is a 6'4" 210 lbs. power forward that plays the right wing, and has pretty good athleticism for a player of his size. He posted 20 goals and 16 assists in 41 games at Minnesota State this season.

The Bruins have dipped into the college free agent market by signing Dartmouth College player Matt Lindblad to an entry-level contract.

Lindblad appeared in 30 games for Dartmouth this season and had 10 goals and 28 points which ranked him second on the team during his junior season. The 23-year-old skated in a total of 89 games over three seasons with the Big Green and finished his collegiate career with 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer said this morning that there is still no exact timetable for Ilya Kovalchuk’s return from his right shoulder injury, but he expects he will be back to help the team fight to get into the playoffs.

How many games Kovalchuk will be back in time to play is unknown. He obviously won’t play in Saturday’s home game against Toronto (or Sunday in Buffalo). Forward Steve Sullivan will play, though, for the first time since being reacquired in Wednesday’s trade with Phoenix.

Martin Brodeur will start against Maple Leafs

Brodeur allowed one goal on 26 shots last night, but took the loss because the Devils couldn't solve Tuukka Rask. He catches a break tomorrow, the red-hot Joffrey Lupul will be out of the Maple Leafs lineup. He should make for a decent second-tier start.
