Miller will start tonight for the Sabres.

Miller allowed two goals on 25 shots in a losing effort vs. Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He has a good matchup tonight vs. the Panthers. Miller has not been the fantasy asset he has been in previous years with the Sabres struggling. However he should be able to record the win tonight against a weak Florida team.

Hackett recalled by #mnwild; Backstrom didn't make trip to Dallas but should start Saturday vs LA

The Wild has decided to give Niklas Backstrom a little extra rest. Backstrom, who had started 16 of the team's last 17 games and the last 12 straight, was left in the Twin Cities when the Wild boarded a plane for Dallas for Friday's game with the Stars. Now the only question left is whether it will be Hackett or Darcy Kuemper in goal against the Stars tomorrow. Hackett started for the Houston Aeros Tuesday but gave up seven goals in a loss to Texas in an AHL game.

Matthew Hackett
Brian Elliott has been assigned to Peoria for conditioning, where he will start two games and return to St. Louis.

Elliott will start for the Rivermen on Friday against Oklahoma City and Saturday against Lake Erie before returning to the Blues following Saturday’s game. Elliott, 27, has appeared in 11 games for the Blues this season, posting a 3-6-1 record with a 3.65 goals-against average and a .851 save percentage.

#Pens Malkin will play tonight vs. #NHLJets

Malkin has missed the Penguins last nine games with a shoulder injury. He will return to the lineup and assume his spot on the Pens second line alongside James Neal and Brenden Morrow. The Pens also acquired Jarome Iginla last night and he is expected to play with Malkin and Neal, that sounds like a scary line. Get Malkin in your lineups.

Evgeni Malkin
Maloney said he's hopeful Smith joins the team on road trip but next week is likely earliest he returns.

Smith will miss his third straight game tonight with an upper-body injury. It doesn't sound like Smith will play on Saturday in San Jose. Monitor his status on Saturday, if he is unavailable the Coyotes next game is on Tuesday, at home vs. Los Angeles.

Mike Smith
Rarely has anybody been as excited about taking part in an optional practice as Josh Harding was today. Harding got to Xcel Energy Center early. Warmed up. Waited. Then, in pads, he took the ice with four teammates in a very informal setting and took some shots.

It was discovered last fall that Harding had multiple sclerosis. It was hoped that it could be contained with proper treatment. But, after his body didn’t react well to his medication, he was put on injured reserve Feb. 12 . That began a weeks-long process of trying to find the right treatment combination. A process that was, for Harding, at times very difficult. Harding is confident in his new treatment regimen. He has been working out hard for a week and a half. He had skated twice before Thursday, but hadn’t taken any shots. That’s why being in net and taking shots was so important. There is no timetable for his return. That won’t be determined until Harding, the doctors, coach Mike Yeo and general manager Chuck Fletcher all get together and talk about the situation.

Antti Niemi will start in goal tonight for Sharks vs. Wings, playing on back-to-back nights.

Niemi recorded a 22-save shutout vs. the Ducks last night. He has now won two starts in a row and three of his last four. He has a tough matchup tonight with Detroit in town. The Red Wings have won five straight on the road.
