NHL Hockey Player News

Miller expected to start.

Miller allowed two goals on 25 shots in a losing effort vs. Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He has a good matchup tonight vs. the Panthers. Miller has not been the fantasy asset he has been in previous years with the Sabres struggling. However he should be able to record the win tonight against a weak Florida team.

Ryan Miller
Thomas Greiss seen departing HP this morning with his gear. Possibly to conditioning assignment. #SJSharks

With Greiss leaving and Stalock yet to make a start this season, it sounds like Niemi will start tonight vs. the Red Wings. He recorded a shutout vs. the Ducks last night. Niemi has now won two starts in a row and three of his last four. He has a tough matchup tonight with Detroit in town. The Red Wings have won five straight on the road.

Antti Niemi
Justin Peters to make the start for #Hurricanes vs #Leafs tonight.

With Dan Ellis still on IR and John Muse yet to play an NHL game, Peters will get the nod tonight in Toronto. Peters has allowed four goals in each of his last two games, which has pushed his GAA up to 3.00. He has a fairly tough matchup against a gritty Maple Leafs team who seem to compete every night.

Justin Peters
#CBJ will start Bobrovsky again tonight after posting his 3rd shutout. Another strong effort by Goalie Bob in the shootout loss to #canucks

Bobrovsky's ridiculous month continues. He 8-1-3 with a 1.23 GAA and .960 SV% this month and that is including a four goal on 11 shot performance last weekend. He has a pretty reasonable matchup vs. an Oilers team who have won just one in their last four.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Emery in goal tomorrow.

Emery posted a 16-save shutout in a 2-0 win over Calgary on Tuesday. He is now 12-0-0 with a 2.09 GAA and .920 SV% this season. He has a fairly tough matchup vs. a Ducks team who beat them last week. However Anaheim has lost four straight since that win.

Ray Emery
No Clarke MacArthur at Leafs morning skate. Appears he'll be out again tonight with upper-body injury.

MacArthur will miss his second straight game. He had 43 points in 73 games last season and has 17 points in 30 games this year. He has produced fairly well and on a consistent basis over these last two years, making him a decent fantasy option in deeper leagues.

Clarke MacArthur
Sharp will give it a go in practice today for #Blackhawks.

Sharp has missed the Blackhawks last eight games with a shoulder injury. He was skating today on their fifth line in a non-contact jersey alongside the other injured Hawks forward, Marian Hossa. No timetable for Sharp's return has been set. He will need to shed the non-contact jersey before he is ready to return.

Patrick Sharp
Nik Khabibulin is first goalie off just to verify that he is starting tonight for Edm vs. CBJ.

Khabibulin played very well in his last start. He stopped all 43 shots he faced in a 3-0 shutout win over the Blues. He has a decent matchup vs. the Blue Jackets. However he better be ready to post another shutout if Bobrovsky starts for CBJ.

Bylsma said Iginla's role hasn't been decided. But he hinted that Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line will remain together.

It sounds like Iginla could be on the right wing alongside Evgeni Malkin and James Neal will be moved over to the left side. However it is hard to believe that the Penguins won't put him next to Crosby, regardless of the success Kunitz and Dupuis have had this season. We aren't going to speculate. We'll see where he plays in his first game, which is likely going to be Saturday vs. the Islanders.

Jarome Iginla
Lundqvist in goal and same #NYR lineup

Lundqvist allowed two goals on 34 shots on Tuesday in a 5-2 win over the Flyers. He will make his third start of the season against the Senators tonight. In the two previous meetings he was 0-1-1 with 2.42 GAA and .934 SV%. 'King' Henrik's numbers are great, his 2.20 GAA is 10th in the league and his .922 SV% is good for seventh. That being said he also ranks fifth in losses because the Rangers offensive has been non-existent this year (2.34 goals per game - 27th in the NHL)

Henrik Lundqvist
Montoya will get the start for the Jets as they attempt to streak bust the Penguins.

Montoya is 3-0-0 with a 2.68 GAA and .896 SV% this season. However he is going to be in tough to keep his undefeated record. He faces a Penguins team who look unbeatable at this point. I would net suggest starting Montoya. If you're feeling lucky, then by all means... Start him.

Al Montoya
. @j_markstrom first goalie off the ice which usually indicates starter for game. #FlaPanthers

Markstrom is doing his best Panthers-era Luongo impression, posting mediocre win totals (3 wins in 11 starts) but solid peripherals (2.59 GAA and .921 SV%). He has a nice matchup against a struggling Sabres squad and could make for a good spot start if you're in a pinch.

Jacob Markstrom
Nabokov will be in #Isles net again tonight in Philly. Likely same lineup as well, wait to see what Capuano says after skate.

Nabokov has been a workhorse this year, starting 28 games, good for a tie for 4th in the NHL. His 15-10-3 record is solid but the .902 SV% leaves something to be desired. The Flyers have only won 3 of their last 10 so Nabokov could be a decent start depending on your other options.
