NHL Hockey Player News

Luongo will start for #Canucks vs Minnesota.

This will be Luongo's fourth consecutive start for the Canucks. He went 2-1-0 with a 3.24 GAA and .884 SV% in his three starts last week. He has a tough matchup tonight vs. a good Minnesota team. He is 1-0-0 vs. the Wild this season.

Roberto Luongo
Viktor Fasth getting the start for Ducks against San Jose.

This will be Fasth's first start in 10 days because of a lower-body injury he suffered last week. In his last start he posted a 29 save shutout vs. Calgary. He will be between the pipes tonight vs. a Sharks team that have lost five of their last six games.

Viktor Fasth
Ellis will start for the Hurricanes.

Ellis allowed three goals on 25 shots vs. Washington in his last start. He gets the nod tonight against a skilled Rangers team that is struggling to put it all together. It is not a great matchup for Ellis because the likes of Rick Nash and Marian Gaborik can score at any time. Be wary of Ellis tonight.

Dan Ellis
#Habs Ryder will play tomorrow vs Buffalo after sitting out Saturday's game with a lower body injury.

Ryder has played very well since being traded to the Habs. He has recorded two goals and seven assists in right games for Montreal. He will return to the lineup tomorrow and play alongside Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta.

Michael Ryder
Johan Hedberg, who starts vs. Rangers.

Hedberg played well last week posting a 1.64 GAA and .928 SV% but his record was still only 1-1-1. This will likely be Hedberg's last start as the Devils #1 goalie. Brodeur will probably dress as the backup tomorrow and might start Thursday.

Joey MacDonald gets the start tonight in Dallas.

MacDonald will start and will be backed-up by Danny Taylor because Kiprusoff is back in Calgary with his wife as they welcome a new baby boy. MacDonald lost his last start allowing two goals on 21 shots on March 11th. He has a decent matchup tonight vs. the Stars.

Bryz vs. Lindback. #Flyers

Bryzgalov will make his 28th start in the Flyers 30th game tonight vs. Tampa Bay. Bryz stopped 27 of the 28 shots that he faced in a 2-1 shootout win over New Jersey in his last start. He gets the call tonight against a Tampa Bay team who has struggled to find offensive lately. Bryzgalov should make for a good start.

Ilya Bryzgalov
Martin Brodeur is facing full-on shots. Not holding back.

Brodeur was expected to start on February 24th, but he tweaked his back and hasn't played since. Today was his first full practice since the injury. The Devils play the Rangers tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if Brodeur will be healthy enough to start, or if he still needs some time. Monitor his status tomorrow.

Martin Brodeur
Cervenka looks to be in.

Cervenka has been a healthy scratch for the Flames last two games but it appears as if he will replaced Mikael Backlund who is out with a foot injury. Cervenka has struggled to transition his game into the NHL in his first season. He has just eight points in 20 games.

Mike Green could return from a groin injury this week for the Washington Capitals, according to coach Adam Oates.

Oates said Sunday afternoon that the defenseman will go on the upcoming road trip to Pittsburgh, Winnipeg and New York and “hopefully he’s going to play on the trip.” Green hasn't played since February 27th, monitor his status prior to tomorrow's game vs. Pittsburgh.
