NHL Hockey Player News

Stars center Derek Roy (groin) will not play Friday. Gulutzan said he hopes Roy, who did not practice Thursday, will be ready early next week.

Roy will miss his 4th straight game tonight, and looks like his 5th tomorrow as well. The Stars hope to have him back next week but that still is tentative. The Stars called up Antoine Roussel on Thursday to fill in for Roy and he will make his NHL debut tonight.

Derek Roy
Fasth will start in net tonight for the Ducks.

In Fasth's first career NHL start he registered the win saving 19 of 21 shots he faced. He'll get the call again tonight against a good Minnesota team. Fasth isn't expected to make a lot of starts this year so for now he doesn't have very much fantasy value.

Viktor Fasth
#Habs Price will start Saturday vs. Buffalo.

Price has won 4 straight even though his numbers in the last 2 weren't that great (.880 and .857 SV%). The return of P.K. Subban will also help Price and the Habs. As long as Montreal continues to play well and win games, Price is a good fantasy option.

Carey Price
Howard will start in net vs. the Blues.

Howard has been great this year for the Red WIngs, considering how soft their D has look thus far. He got beat up for 6 goals in the season opener against the Blues, the Red Wings and Howard will be looking for redemption tonight when they take on St. Louis in Detroit.

Jimmy Howard
#Coyotes recall C Andy Miele and assign G Chad Johnson to Portland (AHL).

Johnson posted a shutout in his first start and only allowed 2 goals on 21 shots. He had a 0.98 GAA and .952 SV% in his short stint in the NHL. He will return to the AHL for some more seasoning.

Chad Johnson
#nhljets Dustin Byfuglien will not be in the lineup tonight against Tampa Bay.

There's no word on what Byfuglien injured other than "he aggravated something". He missed yesterday's game and will be out again today. This is a big loss for the Jets as Byfuglien is one of their most important pieces.

Dustin Byfuglien
Ian White tells Babcock he's playing Tuesday.

Babcock isn't as certain that White will play on Tuesday, but the fact that White is back on the ice practicing and says that he can play is a great sign. He was expected to miss 2-4 weeks, but it looks like he's going to be back way ahead of schedule.

No lineup changes for Lightning Friday against Jets. That means Lindback in net for fourth straight start.

Lindback has been ok with his new team. His .914 SV% is solid but the 2.80 GAA is high due to the sheer volume of shots he faces. The Jets are averaging 3 goals per game so he has his work cut out for him tonight.

Anders Lindback
Braden Holtby will start for the Caps tonight.

This will be Holtby's first action since January 22nd, as he lost the starting job to Neuvurth. However it seems like the battle for the #1 spot isn't over because while Neuvirth is playing well the Capitals still aren't winning. This should leave the door open for Holtby, he has a tough matchup tonight against an angry Flyers team.

Braden Holtby
Ellis first off the ice for the #Canes.

This will be Ellis' second start of the season. In his first game he made 40 saves on 41 shots and earned the win against the Lightning. The Hurricanes have a back-to-back today and tomorrow so Ellis was bound to get one start, looks like that is going to be tonight.
