Josefson won't be fantasy relevant.
Anze Kopitar skated at the Los Angeles Kings' training complex Monday with a brace on his sprained right knee.
Kopitar was expected to miss a few weeks with his knee injury, but is progressing well and could be back earlier than expected. Don't let him fall too far in your draft.
Alexander Ovechkin could start the season at right wing.
If the Capitals keep Ovechkin on the RW, he would get dual eligibility at LW and RW.
Mikael Samuelsson joined Darren Helm on the sidelines Monday due to a tender groin.
It doesn't look too severe but groin injuries are something to keep an eye on.
Briere has hairline fracture, but he's getting better. Probably out first 2 games.
Briere is expected to center the Flyers second line. Missing the first two games wouldn't be devastating just make sure he is not in your lineups. Monitor his status on Saturday and Sunday.
The Dallas Stars send D Marc Fistric to Edmonton for 3rd round pick.
Fistric only has 23 points in 257 career regular season NHL games. He's not much of a fantasy asset regardless of what team he plays for. Unless your team needs hits, in which case he's a great source of hits!
Vancouver Canucks announce they have signed defenceman Jim Vandermeer.
Vandermeer a defensive defenseman doesn't have a lot of fantasy value especially since he is joining an already crowded defensive corp in Vancouver.

Tangradi - Malkin - Neal;
Tangradi has 1 goal in 40 career NHL games so he isn't really an ideal fantasy player. He's been able to find the net in the AHL, so maybe playing with Malkin and Neal will spark some goal scoring from Tangradi.

Red Wings 1st PP - Kronwall and Brunner to man the point.
Brunner is already expected to start alongside Zetterberg and Datzyuk on the Red Wings first line. If he plays the point on the teams first PP that will add to his already growing pre-season fantasy value.
Kevin Dineen says no Marcel Goc (ankle) or Erik Gudbranson (shoulder) for Panthers first three games
Gudbranson can be a good fantasy option when he puts it all together. He can score, hit and racks up PIM's. However he is expected to miss the first three games of the year. Not a good start.
Line Change
Matt Duchene will be centering a line that has P.A. Parenteau and Gabriel Landeskog on the wings.
Duchene has yet to put up the numbers the Avalanche expected when picking him third overall. Playing with newcomer Parenteau and 2011-12 Rookie of the year Landeskog is a great opportunity for Duchene to get back on track.

Nik Antropov is dealing with an upper-body injury and hasn’t passed his physical.
Antropov will be assessed later in the week but his availability for the start of the season is still unknown.

Schenn is expected to play a big role for the Flyers this year. There's no bigger role than the first line along side one of the leagues best playmakers (Giroux). If he stays on this line, he could be a great fantasy commodity.

Moulson-Tavares-Okposo;
Okposo getting a chance to fill the absence of P.A Parenteau on the Isles first line. Okposo gets a great chance to produce playing with Tavares and Moulson, and could make him a solid late round sleeper.

First Line: 90 (Johansson) -19 (Backstrom) -8 (Ovechkin)
Johansson has a chance to have a good season. If Johansson can stick with Oveckin and Backstrom he could be a good addition to your fantasy team.
Second PP Unit: Dennis Seidenberg, Dougie Hamilton, Chris Bourque, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand
Hamilton has good offensive instincts and if he can score on the Power Play it would make him worth a fantasy roster spot.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
