Goalie Start
Coach Darryl Sutter says the Kings will not use a goalie rotation during the 48-game NHL season. Jonathan Quick is expected to get most of the work.
This certainty is the kind of news you need to hear prior to drafting as many teams have been unclear on how they will use their goaltenders over the shortened season. This news could increase Quick's preseason ranking a few slots.
Reports out of Washington #Caps will sign former #NHLJets Eric Fehr to 1-year, $600,000 deal.
Unlikely that Fehr will have any fantasy relevance this season.
Signing
Once lockout is over, I expect TOR to announce a 1 year deal with defenceman Cody Franson. Likely for a shade over $1M.
Franson has potential that seemingly everyone except the Leafs saw but he spent most of last season in Ron Wilson's doghouse. Under a new regime, Franson should be able to amplify his 21 points in 57 games last season.
Michael Grabner: "Good to go, good to be back out there, didn't feel anything [from injured ab] today."
Grabner underperformed in fantasy last season but still contributed 20 goals. If he can find ways to be more consistent, he could crack lineups in standard leagues.
Call up / Send down
This year, his goal is clear; he wants to be a regular in the Flames lineup.
With aspirations this high, Baertschi could be a steal late in your draft.
Jochen Hecht is coming back to Buffalo.
Hecht was let go following a premature ending to last season due to a concussion. After convincing management that he has overcome those issues through play in Germany, Hecht will be back to provide much needed depth for the Sabres.
Hagelin was with Richards-Nash today
Hagelin's stock will skyrocket if he can start the season with these two point producers.

While we've been excited about the potential before, you couldn't ask for any better situation for him on this revamped Canes team.
Tallon said Erik Gudbranson's suspension will be lifted "as soon as he's cleared to play."
Gudbranson injured himself wakeboarding in the offseason and there is no timetable for his return.

Good 1st extended test for Lindback after knee injury.
Lindback appears ready to go as the Lightning number one goalie. With a revamped defense in front of him, he could experience much of the same success he saw as a backup in Nashville.
The Washington Capitals center insisted Friday he's fine, the day he skated for the first time since Dec. 26.
Draft as you would normally - it looks like Backstrom will enter camp with no injury.
Officially I'm told Cervenka is cleared to skate, but advised no contact by #Flames
There is a risk here that Cervenka's much anticipated debut will be delayed by the injury suffered when blocking a shot during the lockout.
Line Change
It is inevitable Ilya Kovalchuk will return to the Devils for at least part of training camp, but the timing of that return from Russia may determine whether the big winger has created any hard feelings among his teammates or management.
Either way, it's good news that Kovy is going to be returning to the NHL despite missing some camp.
Ten days ago, and less than a week before the NHL and NHLPA agreed to end their bitter, 113-day-long work stoppage, Jones was struck in the eye by an errant puck during a conditioning skate in Minnesota.
A scary injury for Jones who will be out indefinitely.
Injury
Laich reportedly suffered a groin/adductor injury while playing in Switzerland, but in his first comments since arriving back in town, the forward brushed off concern.
Until we hear from the team, we'll have to assume Laich is healthy going into camp.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
