Ryan Callahan suffered a second degree MCL sprain on Tuesday and will be out four-to-six weeks.

The 28-year-old winger has dealt with at least seven different injuries since the 2009-10 season, and he’s missed a total of 44 games in that span. As someone who excels playing a physical, power forward type of hockey that includes a lot of shot blocking, Callahan’s style of play puts him at a greater risk for injury than skilled players.

Jones leads the Kings onto the ice for warmups, he starts for the Kings. `

It was not long ago when Kings coach Darryl Sutter said that the schedule allows Ben Scrivens to play until Jonathan Quick is back. All of a sudden Jones has started three straight games, is 3-0-0 and has back-to-back shutouts and a 137 minute and 45 second shutout streak going. While it makes sense to starts Scrivens against his former team, how could you take Jones off the ice right now? He faces a Toronto team who are 3-5-2 in their last 10.

Martin Jones
Raanta gets the start for the Blackhawks.

Raanta allowed two goals on 29 shots in a big win over the Stars last night. Raanta has allowed two goals in each of his first six NHL appearances. The win moved him to 4-1-1 with a 2.14 GAA and .924 SV%, proving he is capable of holding down the fort while Corey Crawford sits out. He will face a Flyers team who have lost three out of their last four while being outscored 15-11 in the process.

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau says Jakob Silfverberg (broken hand) may be able to play on next road trip (Dec. 17-23).

Silfverberg returned to practice on Wednesday and could be back in the lineup in a week after being out since October 25 with broken hand. He has four goals and three assists with a plus-5 rating in 11 games.

Jakob Silfverberg
Hejda (knee) is expected to play on Saturday.

Hejda was injured on a collision with the boards that looked like it was going to cost him an extender period of time. However he only missed three games. Hejda enters Saturday's game with a plus-17 rating, which is tied for the team lead with Erik Johnson and tied for 2nd in the NHL.

Jan Hejda
Kane (lower-body) has not skated since last week and is now considered "more than day-to-day".

It sounds like Kane will miss his fifth consecutive game on Thursday and is doubtful to play on Saturday. What was originally believed to be a minor injury, continues to cost Kane games. Keep an eye on when he begins skating again.

Evander Kane
Helm (shoulder) skated a little by himself this morning but there is still no timetable for when he will join the team for a full practice.

Helm's injury woes continue as he will miss his fourth straight game tomorrow in Tampa Bay. The Red Wings continue to battle a ton of injuries as they will also be without Stephen Weiss again.

Darren Helm
Weiss did not skate this morning and will not play tomorrow because his groin injury flared up.

Weiss will be reevaluated when the team returns to Detroit following Thursday's meeting with the Lightning. It has been a disappointing season statistically for Weiss, but this reoccurring groin injury is making it difficult to get in any sort of groove. Expect Johan Franzen to shift back to centre and either Gustav Nyquist or Justin Abdelkader to play on Pavel Datsyuk's wing.

Stephen Weiss
Doan is still "under the weather," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "He's still not going to be available for the foreseeable future."

This is a tough break for the Coyotes captain who was having a great season prior to getting il. Doan had registered 12 goals and 11 assists (23 points) in 27 games. Doan is expected to get further tests because an illness lingering around as long as this one has could be serious.

Shane Doan
Senators defenseman Jared Cowen has been suspended two games for a hit on Buffalo Sabres center Zemgus Girgensons Tuesday night

At 18:02 of the third period, Cowen came across the ice to hit Girgensons as he entered the Ottawa zone. No penalty was called on the play. Girgensons remained in the game. Cowen will miss tomorrow's game against the Sabres and Saturday's vs. the Kings.

Jared Cowen
Harding starts against the Ducks.

Harding stopped 37 of 38 shots (.974 SV%) in a win over the Sharks on Sunday. The Wild did not generate much offence in this one, but Harding stood on his head and led the team to a W. It was his third straight win and 16th of the season. He will take on the Ducks in Anaheim tonight, he enters the contest with a 3-3-3 record and 1.86 GAA and .928 SV% on the road.

Glencross (knee) skated once again today and is questionable for Thursday's contest.

Glencross has been sidelined since November 5 with a knee injury that cost him cost him 15 games. Prior to taking a seat for over a month, Glencross had five goals and four assists in 15 games. He is one of the Flames' better offensive weapons so his return would definitely help offensively.

Curtis Glencross
Galiardi (back) will return to the Flames lineup on Thursday.

Galiardi missed the last eight games with a back injury that he suffered in late November. Prior to getting hurt he had a single goal and five assists in 22 games. He is expected to skate on the second line with Mikael Backlund and David Jones.

T.J. Galiardi
Ramo starts for the Flames on Thursday.

Ramo stopped 22 of 25 shots (.880 SV%) in last Friday's loss to the Avalanche. After watching Reto Berra make two consecutive starts, Ramo climbs back in the crease on Thursday against the Hurricanes. After a terrible start to the season, Ramo has won two of his last three starts while posting a 1.60 GAA and .938 SV%.

Karri Ramo
The Red Wings have placed Zetterberg (back) on long-term injured reserve to create room for Petr Mrazek to be recalled.

Zetterberg must sit out a minimum of 10 games and 24 days on LTIR, which was inevitable since he isn't even skating yet. He is eligible to return on December 28 vs. Florida.
