Robertson is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Robertson was absent from Toronto's practice on Friday and it was announced the 23-year-old left-winger is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Robertson is entering his second full season with Toronto and will hope to be healthy by their season opener on October 9th (Montreal) if he hopes to surpass the 56 games played he put up in 2023-24.

Nicholas Robertson
Jarnkrok is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Toronto was without Calle Jarnkrok for their practice on Friday after it was announced the forward is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The 33-year-old forward is entering his third season with the Maple Leafs and will hope to be healthy and ready for their season opener on October 9th vs. Montreal.

McCabe is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

McCabe did not skate Friday for Toronto's practice and is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The 30-year-old will hope to be ready for Toronto's opening night game vs Montreal on Wednesday, October 9th as he is an integral part of their defensive core. In 73 games with Toronto in 2023-24, he had eight goals, 28 points and 56 PIMS.

Jake McCabe
Rust is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

It doesn't sound too serious for Bryan Rust but he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and Head Coach Mike Sullivan has stated that "He's trying to manage through it" after the forward missed practice on Friday. The 32-year-old will hope to be ready for the Penguins' season opener on October 10th as they take on Columbus. He had 28 goals and 56 points in 62 games played in 2023-24.

Bryan Rust
Doughty underwent successful surgery on his ankle and remains out month to month.

Doughty was hurt in an awkward play in last Wednesday's preseason game and is now considered month-to-month after it was announced the 34-year-old had successfully undergone surgery to repair a fractured ankle. It is a significant loss for the Kings as Doughty has played in all but one game in the last two seasons, averaging nearly 26:00 TOI/GP. In 82 games in 2023-24, he had 15 goals, 50 points, 44 PIMs and a +15 plus/minus. Brandt Clarke is expected to take his spot on the Kings' top powerplay to start the season. Head Coach Jim Hiller did mention Doughty is expected back this season.

Drew Doughty
Gustafsson (lower body) returned to practice on Friday.

Gustafsson left Winnipeg's preseason matchup on Wednesday in the second period due to an undisclosed injury but returned to practice on Friday as a full participant. It is a sigh of relief for Winnipeg and the 24-year-old as he looks like he will not miss any of the regular season. He will be looking to build off his career year from 2023-24 which saw him pick up three goals and seven points in 39 games.

David Gustafsson
Karlsson (upper body) joined the Penguins' practice in a regular, full-contact jersey for the first time this season.

Karlsson had yet to join his teammates for training camp after dealing with an upper-body injury but joined the Penguins' practice in a full-contact jersey Friday. The 34-year-old is coming off a disappointing first season in Pittsburgh which saw him amass 11 goals, 56 points, 44 PIMs and 213 SOG in 82 games played in 2023-24.

Erik Karlsson
Casey is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday.

With Brett Pesce injured, Casey seized the opportunity to break camp with the Devils and will make his NHL debut in Prague on Friday. The 20-year-old was a second-round pick (No.46 overall) in 2022 and had 45 points (7G / 38A) in 40 games at the University of Michigan last season. Casey, who will man the Devils' second power-play unit, had one assist, three SOG and two hits in his two preseason games.

Seamus Casey
Luukkonen was in the starter's crease at the Sabres morning skate.

Luukkonen emerged as the Sabres' starting netminder in the 2023-24 season, surprisingly edging out Devon Levi, and will likely begin the 2024-25 campaign with an opportunity to reprise his role in the team's first game on Friday against the New Jersey Devils in Prague as part of the NHL Global Series. In his first full season, the 25-year-old netminder played 54 games (27-22-4), recording a solid 2.57 GAA and .910 SV%. Luukkonen will look to pick up where he left off but will be challenged in his first outing against an improved Devils squad that is oozing with offensive talent.

Calgary has signed Tyson Barrie to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

After a successful PTO in Calgary, the Flames have signed 13-year veteran Tyson Barrie to a one-year, $1.25 million contract. The 33-year-old is joining his fifth NHL franchise after putting up a goal, 15 points, 16 PIMS and a -10 plus/minus in 41 games with Nashville in 2023-24.

Tyson Barrie
Geekie has been suspended for one preseason game for leaving the players' bench on a line change for the purpose of starting an altercation.

Geekie left the Lightning's bench on Wednesday during their preseason game on a legal line change for the purpose of starting an altercation after his dust-up with Florida's Josh Davies and has been suspended for one game by the NHL Player Safety Department. The 20-year-old forward is battling for one of Tampa Bay's final roster spots after being acquired during the offseason in the deal which saw Mikhail Sergachev end up in Utah.

Conor Geekie
Martin cleared waivers on Thursday and has been reassigned to Chicago (AHL).

It was expected by some that Martin might be claimed when originally placed on waivers on Wednesday, but the 29-year-old netminder would not face the same fate that originally brought him to the Hurricanes last season and has been reassigned to Chicago (AHL) after clearing on Thursday. The Oakville native spent 2023-24 split between Columbus and Carolina and produced an ugly 7-9-2 record with a .889 SV% and 3.30 GAA in 19 games last season.

Spencer Martin
Gustafsson (undisclosed) is not practicing on Thursday after leaving Wednesday's preseason game due to injury.

Gustafsson left Winnipeg's preseason matchup on Wednesday in the second period due to an undisclosed injury and is not practicing on Thursday. The Jets are expected to provide an update from head coach Scott Arniel on Gustafsson's injury status later Thursday. In 39 games played in 2023-24, Gustafsson had three goals, seven points, and 27 SOG.

David Gustafsson
Eyssimont (lower-body) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Eyssimont was originally expected to be out until the middle of October, but he removed his non-contact jersey for Thursday's practice. Head coach Jon Cooper said that Eyssimont will need to get his conditioning up but it seems possible that he could be ready for the Lightning's season opener. He skated with Nick Paul and Conor Sheary in Thursday's practice session.

Michael Eyssimont
Sorokin (back) returned to Islanders' practice on Thursday for the first time since his off-season surgery.

Sorokin's return date is still unclear after the 29-year-old successfully underwent back surgery in the offseason. However, he had some incredibly positive signs on Thursday after he returned to Islanders' practice in full for the first time. The four-year NHL veteran claimed he felt good during the skate and is hopeful to be back shortly. Sorokin endured one of the roughest seasons of his professional career in 2023-24, posting a 25-19-12 record with a 3.01 GAA and .909 SV%.

Ilya Sorokin
Karlsson (undisclosed) will practice on Thursday for the first time since training camp opened in a non-contact jersey.

After a long training camp with limited news on Erik Karlsson's ailment, the 34-year-old defenseman returned to Pittsburgh's practice for the first time in a non-contact jersey. The 16-year-veteran is not expected to be ready for Pittsburgh's season opener on October 9th vs. New York with the latest news. Karlsson is coming off a disappointing first season with the Penguins in 2023-24, where he put up 11 goals, 56 points, 44 PIMs and 213 SOG in 82 games played.
