Pionk did not play the final four weeks leading up to the Olympic break and will remain sidelined when the team returns to action, out week-to-week with a new ailment. With Josh Morrissey (upper body) also sidelined, Logan Stanley will likely fill in as the interim quarterback on Winnipeg's top powerplay unit.

Neal Pionk
Sanheim (olympics) is expected to return to Philadelphia's lineup vs. Washington on Wednesday.

Sanheim scored one assist in five games with Team Canada during their Silver Medal performance at the Olympics. Colorado has acquired Brett Kulak and a 2028 2nd round pick from Pittsburgh for Samuel Girard.

Kulak will join his third NHL team this season after spending stints in Edmonton and Pittsburgh. The 32-year-old defenseman has accompanied his team to the Stanley Cup Finals in two straight seasons and will add some stability and experience to Colorado's blueline. He has nine points (1G / 8A) and 77 blocks in 56 combined games this season.

Pittsburgh has acquired Samuel Girard from Colorado for Brett Kulak and a 2028 2nd round pick.

Girard is a talented offensive defenseman who was buried on a deep Colorado blueline, but could see a larger role after being traded to Pittsburgh. The 27-year-old defenseman has 235 points (37G / 198A) in 588 career games. He had a career-high 37 points (6G / 31A) in 76 games with Colorado in the 2022-23 season.

Rantanen is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury but is expected back by the end of the season.

Rantanen did not play in Finland's Bronze Medal victory over Slovakia at the Olympics on Saturday due to a lower-body injury and will miss at least two weeks. It's unclear how serious Rantanen's ailment is, but Head Coach Glen Gulutzan said Rantanen will be back before the end of the season. The 29-year-old is having an outstanding first full season with the Stars, scoring 69 points (20G / 49A) in 54 games. Expect Matt Duchene to see increased deployment while Rantanen is sidelined.

Mikko Rantanen
Point (lower-body) will return vs. Toronto on Wednesday.

Point missed the final four weeks leading up to the Olympic break and was ultimately removed from Team Canada's roster for the Olympics at the last minute. The 29-year-old Point has had a down season, with 30 points (11G / 19A) in 37 games, but was starting to return to his elite production before his injury, scoring 19 points (8G / 11A) in his last 15 games.

Brayden Point
Hedman (lower-body) is healthy and will play vs. Toronto on Wednesday

Hedman did not see any ice time in Sweden's final game of the Olympics, but he will be in Tampa Bay's lineup when they return to action on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 35-year-old Hedman has battled a myriad of injuries this season, scoring 13 points (0G / 13A) in only 21 games, and seemingly losing his role on the top powerplay unit to Darren Raddysh.

Victor Hedman
Simashev has been recalled from Tucson (AHL).

Simashev was drafted sixth-overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut this season, scoring one assist in 24 games with the Mammoth. That said, the 21-year-old defenseman has spent the last couple of months in the AHL, where he has excelled, with 25 points (7G / 18A) in 27 games with the Tucson Roadrunners.

Dmitri Simashev
Matthews is expected to return from the Olympic break and play vs. Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Matthews scored seven points (3G / 4A) in six games as the captain of Team USA during their Gold Medal performance at the Olympics. The 28-year-old forward is expected to rejoin the Maple Leafs when they return to action on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before the Olympic break, Matthews had six points (1G / 5A) in his last five games with the Maple Leafs. The team hopes he can return to that form as they continue their fight for a playoff spot.

Auston Matthews
Edstrom (lower-body) was cleared for contact and a full participant in practice on Tuesday.

Edstrom has not played since the end of November due to a lower-body injury but appears to be nearing a return after practicing on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Swedish forward is averaging 9:34 time-on-ice and has four points (2G / 2A) in 24 games this season.

Adam Edstrom
DiPietro has been recalled from Providence (AHL) under emergency conditions.

With Jeremy Swayman returning from his stint with Team USA at the Olympics, the Bruins have recalled DiPietro, as Swayman is unlikely to suit up when Boston returns to action on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 26-year-old DiPietro is having a marvellous season in the AHL with Providence, posting a dazzling 1.76 GAA and .938 SV% in 30 games (22-6-0).

Michael DiPietro
Morrissey (upper-body) has been placed on IR.

Morrissey was not able to contribute to Team Canada at the Olympics after suffering an injury in their opening game, and will remain sidelined when the Jets return to action on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks. The Jets have recalled Kale Clague from Manitoba (AHL) in a corresponding move.

Josh Morrissey
Clague has been recalled from Manitoba (AHL).

Klague was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but has never played more than 33 games in an NHL season. The 27-year-old defenseman has spent the entirety of the previous two seasons in the AHL and has 21 points (8G / 13A) in 44 games with the Manitoba Moose this season.

Kale Clague
Carlson (lower-body) missed practice on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.

Carlson suffered a lower-body injury in Washington's final game before the Olympic break on February 6th and remained absent from practice on Tuesday. If he is unable to suit up on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers, his next chance to play will be on Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 36-year-old Carlson has seen significantly less powerplay deployment this season, taking a backseat to Jakob Chychrun, but has remained productive, with an impressive 46 points (10G / 36A) through 55 games.

John Carlson
New York has acquired Matt Luff from St. Louis for Julien Gauthier.

Luff is an undrafted forward who has yet to make his impact at the NHL level. The 28-year-old has only 28 points (16G / 12A) in 111 career NHL games, but has been impressive in the AHL this season, scoring 39 points (14G / 25A) in 42 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds.
