If you watched last year's Stanley Cup Finals, you are probably acquainted with Tanev. The poised, young defender registered 12 assists in 25 games in the AHL.
Injury
The news is a little better for Jesse Winchester, who is out with a concussion. He’s starting to feel better but not to the point where he can do a lot. He probably won’t get back on skates until after the all-star break.
Winchester has been out since December 20th due to a concussion and is out indefinitely. He scored two goals and seven points while playing on the fourth line.

SAN JOSE – General manager Bryan Murray said it looks like Peter Regin is done for the season with the injury to his left shoulder.
He hasn’t decided to have surgery, but it nonetheless appears as if he won’t be back.
Very safe to drop Regin at this point. With the addition of Kyle Turris, the Danish center was unlikely to see valuable playing time.

Expect Kaleta to play on his usual line with Paul Gaustad and Nathan Gerbe. The agitator has three points in his last three games.
The St. Louis Blues have re-signed goaltender Brian Elliott to a two-year extension that averages out at $1.8 per season.
The deal will pay Elliott $1.7 million next season and $1.9 million in 2013-2014.
Extending Elliott is a clear sign the Blues value him enough to tandem with Jaro Halak. Interesting to see if this effects his already-stellar play.
Curtis Glencross is out week to week with knee injury.
Sounds like Glencross will be out until after the All-Star Game. The Kindersley, Saskatchewan native has 18 goals and 33 points on the season in what could be a career season.
Ryane Clowe will not play tomorrow night. #SJSharks
Clowe remains sidelined with a facial injury and is likely out until after the All-Star Game. While the injury is definitely to his head it is not concussion related. Clowe scored nine goals and 26 points through 42 games.

We can only assume that Desjardins needs a practice or two before getting back into a game. The fourth-line center scored three goals and eight points over 40 games this season.
Boyce out with back spasms. Unlikely to play Thursday.
Look for Joey Crabb to stay in the lineup with Boyce sidelined.

Ryan has 17 goals on the season and could get back into the 30-35 goal range if he continues his tear. The window of opportunity in acquiring the power forward at a discount is rapidly closing.

Mike Smith, who made 38 saves in Monday’s win, is expected to be back in goal against the Ducks. Smith is 5-1-1 with a 2.29 goals-against average in seven starts versus Anaheim, including two wins earlier this season.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
